Alabama Secretary of State Wes Allen, a Republican, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.al.com\/news\/2024\/04\/joe-biden-campaign-responds-to-wes-allen-says-president-will-be-on-ballot-in-all-50-states.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>notified<\/a> the Alabama Democratic Party and Democratic National Committee on Tuesday that their schedule could cause problems this fall.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt has recently come to my attention that the Democratic National Convention is currently scheduled to convene on August 19, 2024, which is after the State of Alabama\u2019s statutory deadline for political parties to provide a certificate of nomination for President and Vice President,\u201d Allen wrote in a letter to Alabama Democratic Party Chairman Randy Kelley and DNC Chairman Jaime R. Harrison.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf this Office has not received a valid certificate of nomination from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/Democratic-Party\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Democratic Party<\/a> following its convention by the statutory deadline, I will be unable to certify the names of the Democratic Party\u2019s candidates for President and Vice President for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/north-carolina-board-reverses-decision-and-certifies-states-green-party-as-democrats-worry-itll-siphon-votes-from-them\/\" title=\"North Carolina Board Reverses Decision and Certifies State's Green Party as Democrats Worry It'll Siphon Votes From Them\">ballot preparation<\/a> for the 2024 general election,\u201d Allen wrote. <\/p>\n<p>The Biden campaign remained firm the president will be on the ballot nationwide. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cJoe Biden will be on the ballot in all 50 states,\u201d Biden\u2019s campaign said. \u201cState officials have the ability to grant provisional ballot access certification prior to the conclusion of presidential nominating conventions. In 2020 alone, states like Alabama, Illinois, Montana, and Washington all allowed provisional certification for Democratic and Republican nominees.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In 2020, a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/in-separate-incident-from-hawaii-flight-five-people-go-to-hospital-after-severe-turbulence\/\" title=\"In Separate Incident From Hawaii Flight, Five People Go To Hospital After \u2018Severe Turbulence\u2019\">similar situation occurred<\/a> with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/Republican-National-Convention\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Republican National Convention<\/a>, but the Alabama legislature passed a one-time adjustment, allowing Trump to get on the ballot. The bill said it was \u201cto accommodate the dates of the 2020 Republican National Convention.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>When asked about a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/saddened-and-in-shock-denmarks-queen-strips-grandchildren-of-royal-titles\/\" title=\"\u2018Saddened And In Shock\u2019: Denmark\u2019s Queen Strips Grandchildren Of Royal Titles\">similar adjustment<\/a> for Democrats this year, Allen <a href=\"https:\/\/www.al.com\/news\/2024\/04\/joe-biden-campaign-responds-to-wes-allen-says-president-will-be-on-ballot-in-all-50-states.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>said<\/a>, \u201cAs Secretary of State, I will administer Alabama elections in accordance with Alabama law and the deadlines provided therein.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Since 1975, Alabama law has required candidates to be nominated 82 days before the general election.
