The intense competition\u200b persists as both campaigns seek voter\u200b backing in the approaching election.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/2024-elections\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">2024<\/a> general election race between President <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/joe-biden\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Joe Biden<\/a> and former President <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/donald-trump\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Donald Trump<\/a> will be decided between six or seven battleground states. <\/p>\n<p>Both campaigns are fighting to turn out voters in Arizona, Georgia, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, and Wisconsin. <\/p>\n<p>Biden won all of those battleground states except for North Carolina during the 2020 election against Trump. But after four years of Biden\u2019s leadership, an exhausted electorate is weary of another Biden-Trump rematch.<\/p>\n<p>As the incumbent leader, Biden faces a tough reelection election against Trump, who remains the dominant leader of the GOP. <\/p>\n<p>Ahead of the Nov. 5 election, the <em>Washington Examiner<\/em> ranked the battleground states according to which would be the hardest for Biden to win. <\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/election-2024\/?utm_source=homepage&#038;utm_medium=banner&#038;utm_campaign=iowa_caucus&#038;utm_id=election2024\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">ELECTION 2024: FOLLOW LATEST COVERAGE<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<h2>1. North Carolina<\/h2>\n<figure><figcaption>From left, Gov. (AP Photo\/Stephanie Scarbrough)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The Biden campaign hopes to flip North Carolina blue in 2024 after Trump won the state in 2020 and 2016. Yet, the state\u2019s red-leaning status will be hard to overturn. The last Democrat to win the state was former President Barack Obama in 2008 \u2014 16 years ago. <\/p>\n<p>The latest <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/politics\/elections\/trump-biden-poll-swing-states-ad594acb\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title><em>Wall Street Journal <\/em>poll<\/a> released last week showed Trump leading Biden by 6 percentage points, 49%-43%. This was Trump\u2019s highest lead out of the seven battleground states that were surveyed. <\/p>\n<p>So far, the Biden campaign is opening up 10 new field offices in the Tar Heel State while Biden has visited the state twice in 2024 and Vice President Kamala Harris visited the state four times in 2024. <\/p>\n<p>However, one warning sign for the Biden campaign is that <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/projects\/election-results-2024\/north-carolina\/?r=34653\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>nearly 13%<\/a> of Democratic voters selected \u201cno preference\u201d during the state\u2019s presidential primary on Super Tuesday. The \u201cno preference\u201d option gave infuriated Democrats upset over Biden\u2019s handling of the war between Israel and Hamas a chance to voice their displeasure. <\/p>\n<h2>2. Kennedy Jr. claiming he has enough signatures to appear on the ballot, Biden\u2019s chances of another win could be slimmer. <\/p>\n<p>Kennedy could peel off enough Latino voters to doom Biden\u2019s chances, though Biden toured the Silver State and Arizona last month as part of a tour of Western swing states meant to shore support among Latino voters, a crucial voting bloc. <\/p>\n<p>During the Nevada primary, <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/projects\/election-results-2024\/nevada\/?r=30618\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>nearly 6%<\/a> of Democratic voters opted to vote for \u201cnone of these candidates\u201d in February, before the Abandon Biden movement had taken off during Michigan\u2019s primary later that same month. <\/p>\n<p>Trump leads Biden in Nevada by 4 percentage points, 48%-44%, according to the <em>Wall Street Journal<\/em> poll. A March Emerson College\/KLAS-TV\/the <em>Hill<\/em> <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/campaign\/4541824-donald-trump-joe-biden-nevada-arizona-polls\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>poll<\/a> in Nevada\u00a0showed Trump beating Biden once again, 44%-41%. <\/p>\n<p>The Biden campaign could get a boost if organizers can collect 102,000 valid signatures by June 26 to get an abortion access amendment on the ballot. Abortion has become a key issue as the Trump campaign has struggled to identify messaging that appeases the anti-abortion wing of the GOP and moderate voters, which the Biden campaign has exploited. <\/p>\n<h2>3. (AP Photo\/Jacquelyn Martin)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Similarly to Nevada, Arizona remains a key western swing state that Biden will need to win in 2024 if he hopes to defeat Trump. Yet, the former president is leading Biden by an average of 4.5 percentage points in the state, according to <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.realclearpolling.com\/polls\/president\/general\/2024\/arizona\/trump-vs-biden\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>RealClearPolitics<\/a><\/em>. <\/p>\n<p>The Biden campaign launched Latinos con Biden-Harris to coincide with Biden\u2019s visits to Arizona last month and released its first Latino-focused ad, part of a $30 million spring advertising buy. Latinos make up a sizable population in the Grand Canyon State, but some polling suggests Latinos are more open to voting for Trump. <\/p>\n<p>A <a href=\"https:\/\/americanprinciplesproject.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/APP-Hispanic-AZ-NV-Deck-3-24-Final.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">March poll<\/a> from the American Principles Project of Hispanic voters in Arizona showed Trump and Biden tied at 46% in a hypothetical matchup. But when Kennedy is added to the hypothetical matchup, he polls at 17% in Arizona, while Trump is at 40% and Biden at 37%. <\/p>\n<p>Abortion-rights organizers <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ppazaction\/status\/1775210994001903694\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">announced<\/a> last week they had collected more than 383,923 signatures\u00a0needed to qualify for an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/brad-polumbo-bidens-illegal-student-loan-bailout-bought-off-gen-z-and-staved-off-a-red-wave\/\" title=\"Brad Polumbo: Biden\u2019s Illegal Student-Loan Bailout Bought off Gen Z \u2014 And Staved off a Red Wave\">abortion ballot measure<\/a> in November, which will be a boon to Biden\u2019s campaign. <\/p>\n<p>The state Supreme Court\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/policy\/healthcare\/2959358\/arizona-supreme-court-upholds-civil-war-era-abortion-ban\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>ruling<\/a> on Tuesday that Arizona can enforce an 1864 law criminalizing all abortions except those to save the mother\u2019s life will likely also help Biden\u2019s campaign as it continues to blame Trump for bragging about overturning <em>Roe v. Wade<\/em>. <\/p>\n<p>Biden and Harris denounced the GOP in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/campaigns\/2959625\/biden-blasts-arizona-supreme-court-abortion-ruling\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>separate statements<\/a> after the ruling was announced. \u201cThis ruling is a result of the extreme agenda of Republican elected officials who are committed to ripping away women\u2019s freedom,\u201d Biden said. <\/p>\n<h2>4. (AP Photo\/Jacquelyn Martin)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The Abandon Biden movement gained much of its traction in Michigan, home to a large share of Arab and Muslim Americans who have shared their disappointment with Biden\u2019s hesitation to enforce a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas. <\/p>\n<p>More than <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/projects\/election-results-2024\/michigan\/?r=23518\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>101,000 Democrats<\/a>, including progressive Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI), voted \u201cuncommitted\u201d during the primary, amounting to 13.2% of the vote. <\/p>\n<p>In 2020, Biden defeated Trump by roughly 154,100 votes in Michigan. It is unclear how the uncommitted backers will vote in November, but if enough continue their snubbing of Biden, it could cost him the state. <\/p>\n<p>However, the state\u2019s Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (D-MI) has taken a prominent role in the Biden campaign as one of eight national co-chairs. Whitmer\u2019s support could help deliver the Great Lakes State. <\/p>\n<h2>5. (AP Photo\/Evan Vucci)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>In 2020, Biden narrowly won Wisconsin by roughly 20,000 votes. Nearly four years later, it is the one state where Biden and Trump are tied at 46%, according to the <em>Wall Street Journal <\/em>poll. A <em>New York Times<\/em>\/Siena College <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2023\/11\/05\/us\/politics\/biden-trump-2024-poll.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>poll<\/a> from last October also showed Biden beating Trump, 47%-45%. <\/p>\n<p>In the middle of March, Biden toured Wisconsin and Michigan to shore up the Democratic \u201cblue wall\u201d that helped him defeat Trump in 2020. <\/p>\n<p>Biden used the Wisconsin visit to tout $3.3 billion in infrastructure projects to help communities that were dismantled by the construction of the interstate highways during the 1960s. Of the multi-billion funding, $36 million will go toward reconnecting Milwaukee\u2019s 6th Street. <\/p>\n<p>The Biden campaign opened up 44 offices in Wisconsin and based the campaign\u2019s Wisconsin headquarters in Milwaukee in an effort to turn out black, Latino, and suburban women voters. <\/p>\n<p>Yet, during the state\u2019s primary last week, <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/projects\/election-results-2024\/wisconsin\/?r=50001\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>more than 48,000<\/a> Democratic voters snubbed Biden and voted \u201cUninstructed,\u201d another rebuke of Biden\u2019s Middle East diplomacy. <\/p>\n<p>Republicans planned their nominating convention in Milwaukee this summer to build up local excitement for the 2024 election and momentum for Trump to repeat his 2016 victory. <\/p>\n<h2>6. (AP Photo\/Brynn Anderson)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Biden\u2019s victory in the Peach State in 2020 was the first time a Democrat had won the state since former President Bill Clinton did so in 1992. <\/p>\n<p>But in 2024, Biden will not have high-profile down-ballot Democrats to help with voter turnout and fundraising as Sens. Raphael Warnock (D-GA) and Jon Ossoff (D-GA) are not up for reelection. <\/p>\n<p>Biden visited Georgia early in March as part of his multistate campaign kickoff tour. <\/p>\n<p>During his rally, Biden pledged to restore <em>Roe v. Wade<\/em> and called for the lowering of prescription drug prices, which could persuade voters to give Biden another shot at the White House. First lady Jill Biden also launched the \u201cWomen for Biden-Harris\u201d initiative in Atlanta, the metropolitan area key to Biden\u2019s 2020 victory, on the first day of Women\u2019s History Month. <\/p>\n<p>Yet, a March <a href=\"https:\/\/maristpoll.marist.edu\/polls\/the-battleground-2024-georgia\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Marist poll<\/a> showed Trump leading Biden, 51%-47%, among registered Georgia voters and 51%-48% among Georgia voters who plan to vote. <\/p>\n<h2>7. (AP Photo\/Joe Lamberti)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The Keystone State has seen the most visits from Biden out of all the battleground states, with Harris visiting Philadelphia to promote Biden\u2019s latest <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/white-house\/2957255\/biden-student-loan-plan-ignoring-gop-legal-challenges\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>student loan debt<\/a> cancellation plan. <\/p>\n<p>The president unveiled the plan in Madison, Wisconsin, but has visited Pennsylvania three times this year. <\/p>\n<p>The campaign announced last month it was opening 14 offices in the Keystone State as part of a broad effort to galvanize voters in battleground states. <\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">CLICK HERE TO READ MORE FROM THE WASHINGTON EXAMINER<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>But Trump leads Biden by 3 percentage points, 47%-44%, according to last week\u2019s <em>Wall Street Journal<\/em> poll.
