Maybe most voters aren\u2019t even aware of the modern left\u2019s radicalism. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/media-say-bidens-female-led-comms-is-a-first-trump-has-that-now\/\" title=\"Media Say Biden's Female-Led Comms Is A First. Trump Has That Now\">political media<\/a> might be plagued by partisan mediocrity, but when it comes to abortion, they have demonstrated an unmatched competency in misleading the public.<\/p>\n<p>This week, Donald Trump <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/04\/08\/trumps-mixed-messaging-on-abortion-and-ivf-plays-right-into-democrats-electoral-strategy\/\">released<\/a> a statement contending that the abortion issue should be left to the states and refused to endorse any federal law. Because his position is inconveniently restrained, the Joe Biden campaign was compelled to focus on the former president\u2019s flip-flops on the issue.<\/p>\n<p>And virtually every outlet followed the president\u2019s lead, zeroing in on Trump\u2019s inconsistency. The Washington Post <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/politics\/2024\/04\/08\/trump-abortion-stances\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">laid out<\/a> \u201cHow Trump\u2019s abortion stance has shifted over the years.\u201d NBC News <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/politics\/donald-trump\/trumps-many-abortion-positions-timeline-rcna146601\">wrote up<\/a> a \u201cA timeline of Trump\u2019s many, many positions on abortion.\u201d \u201cWhy Trump Will Keep Flip-Flopping on Abortion in 2024,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/time.com\/6335088\/donald-trump-abortion-position-2024-election\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">explains<\/a> a Time magazine headline. \u201c13 times Trump\u2019s abortion position shifted over the last 25 years,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2024\/04\/09\/politics\/trump-abortion-stances-timeline\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">appeared<\/a> on CNN. And so on.<\/p>\n<p>Fair enough. Trump is obviously taking a politically expedient position meant to diffuse the issue among independents and moderates. And it\u2019s no great pronouncement to say that Trump isn\u2019t any kind of social conservative. Whatever he believes or doesn\u2019t, the former president worked with pro-life and pro-Constitution groups to put three originalist judges on the court because his constituents wanted him to do it. That\u00a0court, perhaps the last <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/03\/04\/the-supreme-court-is-the-last-functioning-institution-in-america\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">properly functioning<\/a> institution in the country, overturned one of the most preposterous and deadly decisions in American history.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-ac5fbd951ca5e6e6fcc24a515faf4854 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-6\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-ac5fbd951ca5e6e6fcc24a515faf4854\"><\/div>\n<p>Guess what? Biden is <em>also<\/em> a transactional politician. His goal is to delegitimize the court and Constitution and compel states to accept the Democrats\u2019 maximalist position. <\/p>\n<p>What no <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/is-he-guilty-of-sexual-misconduct-depends-on-his-political-party\/\" title=\"Is He Guilty Of Sexual Misconduct? Depends On His Political Party.\">major media outlet<\/a>, as far as I can tell, even bothered to point out was that Biden has also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nationalreview.com\/corner\/once-a-champion-of-life-joe-biden-is-narals-man-now\/\">radically changed<\/a> his position on abortion, from supporting virtually every restriction in the \u201970s and \u201980s \u2014 including overturning <em>Roe v. Wade<\/em> and handing the issue back to states \u2014 to taking a \u201cmiddle-of-the-road\u201d approach as vice president to Barack \u201cabove my paygrade\u201d Obama, to now supporting abortion without any limits until birth.<\/p>\n<p>Even during the 2020 campaign, Biden was still pro-Hyde Amendment \u2014 a law that bans direct government funding for abortion. This position, if we trust polls, is still popular. But it only took two days of criticism from progressives on social media to convince this feckless, weak man to capitulate to the far left and \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2019\/06\/06\/us\/politics\/joe-biden-hyde-amendment.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">denounce<\/a>\u201d the amendment.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOn Abortion, Trump Chose Politics Over Principles,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2024\/04\/08\/us\/politics\/trump-abortion-stance.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">says<\/a> The New York Times this week. When Biden had his abrupt reversal on Hyde in 2020, the Times assured readers the candidate <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2019\/06\/06\/us\/politics\/joe-biden-hyde-amendment.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">had<\/a> \u201cgrappled for decades with his views on abortion rights.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-c8e2bec80d407a024517a7f6d5e83f26 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-10\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-c8e2bec80d407a024517a7f6d5e83f26\"><\/div>\n<p>We all know politicians are only permitted to \u201cevolve\u201d toward a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/nbcs-yamiche-alcindor-on-possible-end-to-roe-v-wade-some-woman-feel-like-someone-has-died\/\" title=\"NBC\u2019s Yamiche Alcindor on Possible End to Roe v. Wade: Some Woman Feel \u201cLike Someone Has Died\u201d\">pro-abortion position<\/a>. It is odd, though, that every time Biden \u201cgrapples\u201d with an issue \u2014 and he\u2019s wrestled with virtually every one of them \u2014 he somehow always ends up precisely in the most politically convenient place. Weird how that works out.<\/p>\n<p>In any event, as a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/white-fright-cnns-chris-cuomo-suggests-pro-life-legislation-motivated-by-racism\/\" title=\"\u2018White Fright\u2019: CNN\u2019s Chris Cuomo Suggests Pro-Life Legislation Motivated By Racism\">pro-lifer<\/a>, I find Trump\u2019s milquetoast triangulation on the issue cowardly and completely expected \u2014 presidential candidates always moderate their positions for the general election. As a compromise, however, it is well within the norms of American governance. States <em>should<\/em> be making most of the decisions about how they conduct business.<\/p>\n<p>Yet, Democrats like Bill Kristol <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BillKristol\/status\/1777314811828715641\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">claimed<\/a> Trump\u2019s waffling was \u201cclassic authoritarianism,\u201d because they have <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/father-who-pulled-child-from-elite-nyc-school-over-racial-teachings-says-they-want-families-to-advocate-for-black-lives-matter\/\" title=\"Father Who Pulled Child From Elite NYC School Over Racial Teachings Says \u2018They Want Families To Advocate For Black Lives Matter\u2019\">completely lost<\/a> the ability, it seems, to say anything else. We often hear the left argue that restricting abortion is an attack on \u201cdemocracy.\u201d Abortion, mentioned nowhere in the Constitution, is not a right. It is perfectly within our norms \u2014 nay, within the constitutional order \u2014 to empower voters in states, or even nationally, to decide the issue for themselves.<\/p>\n<p>Anyway, if waffling on abortion is authoritarian, Bill Kristol <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/magazine\/1118363\/roe-must-go\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">is<\/a> Benito Mussolini.<\/p>\n<p>(Trump\u2019s abortion statement, incidentally, came the same day Biden announced a new student loan \u201cforgiveness\u201d plan \u2014 ignoring Congress, defying the Supreme Court, breaking millions of private contracts, and unilaterally demanding taxpayers foot the bill. This unconstitutional <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/08\/24\/bidens-student-loan-forgiveness-is-an-unjust-cynical-abuse-of-power\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">vote-buying scheme<\/a> doesn\u2019t seem to bother any of our self-appointed defenders of democracy.)<\/p>\n<p>For both constitutional and practical reasons, I believe the abortion fight is better fought on the state level. But, at the same time, <em>Dobbs<\/em> does not restrict federal action. And it must be noted that Democrats have zero compunction ramming through national abortion policy. It is difficult to maneuver locally \u2014 which, let\u2019s face it, the GOP can barely do as it is \u2014 while Democrats work to make maximalist abortion legislation the law of the land.<\/p>\n<p>And we shouldn\u2019t lose sight of the fact that even the GOP federal position is <em>far <\/em>more reasonable than anything Democrats propose. Trump wants to avoid the debate, but Lindsey Graham\u2019s \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.lgraham.senate.gov\/public\/_cache\/files\/3065785d-86b8-4d36-986a-72aa1c8f100c\/protecting-pain-capable-unborn-children-from-late-term-abortions-act-.pdf\">Protecting Pain-Capable Unborn Children from Late-Term Abortions Act<\/a>\u201d would have limited abortions past 15 weeks of pregnancy (which is when the vast majority of abortions take place, we are constantly informed) and included exceptions for rape and incest, protections for the woman\u2019s life, and prohibitions from prosecuting women seeking abortions.<\/p>\n<p>Democrats keep calling Graham\u2019s bill a \u201cban,\u201d when it\u2019s clear it comports with the view of a large swath of voters, who do not believe in complete bans or complete license to kill human beings.<\/p>\n<p>Though you\u2019d never know it from the news.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-2e0053ac6847db0bd1f661269b07773f fdrlst__b89e9-after-post-content\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-2e0053ac6847db0bd1f661269b07773f\"><\/div>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\">    \t\t\t\t\t   \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n<p><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The modern left supports abortion on demand until birth, funded by taxpayers, showcasing extreme views.
