Democrats will tell you the report is rosy and bright, that the economy is heading in the right direction, and that your negative instincts and impressions about the economy are wrong. In reality, the report is abysmal. Below are the facts about employment that Democrats won\u2019t mention: Fewer Americans have full-time jobs, and more of those with full-time jobs are also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/biden-gives-business-20k-more-foreign-workers-to-hire-13m-americans-jobless\/\" title=\"Biden Gives Business 20K More Foreign Workers to Hire, 13M Americans Jobless\">working part-time jobs<\/a> to make ends meet.<\/p>\n<p>Democrats claim that the economy added <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dol.gov\/newsroom\/releases\/osec\/osec20240405\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">303,000 jobs<\/a> in March \u2014 but it <a href=\"https:\/\/fred.stlouisfed.org\/series\/LNS12500000\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">added no full-time jobs<\/a> at all in March. The economy actually shed 6,000 full-time jobs that month. In fact, full-time employment in the United States has dropped in each of the past four months. Since November, there are 1,787,000 fewer Americans with full-time employment.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2-long d-flex justify-content-center\" style=\"margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center; \" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-682887954\">\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-1379703300879-0\" class=\"mb-30\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-dbfa3b0ff19ce8e507e6f163d4bfb66a fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-dbfa3b0ff19ce8e507e6f163d4bfb66a\"><\/div>\n<p>So how do Democrats claim the economy added <a href=\"https:\/\/fred.stlouisfed.org\/series\/PAYEMS\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">303,000<\/a> jobs in March? What Democrats do not tell you is that <a href=\"https:\/\/fred.stlouisfed.org\/series\/LNU02026625\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">the vast majority of these jobs \u2014 75 percent \u2014 are <em>second jobs<\/em>.<\/a> Under the Biden economy, the number of people who have had to simultaneously work <em>both<\/em> a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/an-extended-look-at-candace-owens-like-youve-never-seen-her-before\/\" title=\"An Extended Look At\u00a0Candace Owens Like You\u2019ve Never Seen Her Before\">full-time job<\/a> <em>and<\/em> a second <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/5-reasons-making-taxpayers-pay-off-student-loans-is-a-rotten-idea\/\" title=\"5 Reasons Making Taxpayers Pay Off Student Loans Is A Rotten Idea\">part-time job<\/a> just to make ends meet has hovered at historical highs. In March, the number of people who added a second part-time job on top of their other full-time employment totaled 225,000. The Democrats\u2019 \u201cgood news\u201d is just you having to work longer and harder to survive.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Many Added Jobs Are Government Jobs<\/h2>\n<p>A shrinking full-time workforce and an increasing \u201cmoonlighting\u201d workforce are, of course, signs of a troubled economy. But there\u2019s more. Nearly 25 percent (<a href=\"https:\/\/fred.stlouisfed.org\/series\/USGOVT\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">71,000<\/a>) of the so-called \u201cadded\u201d jobs are government jobs. Since government employees make up about <a href=\"https:\/\/fred.stlouisfed.org\/series\/USGOVT\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">15 percent<\/a> of <a href=\"https:\/\/fred.stlouisfed.org\/series\/PAYEMS\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">all<\/a> workers, the March figures disproportionately \u201cadd\u201d government jobs to \u201cthe economy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The problem is that government jobs are a cost to the economy. They are societal overhead costs. That is true whether you believe heavy regulation is good or bad for society. In other words, wealth must be taken out of the economy to support government. And since last November, when the economy began to consistently shed full-time jobs, government employment has moved in the opposite direction, adding 270,000 jobs during that period. <\/p>\n<p>These government employment figures are <em>bad<\/em> trends. They mirror two other unhealthy economic trends.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-dd8ed6f11bb534497d85ceb0e332f721 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-6\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-dd8ed6f11bb534497d85ceb0e332f721\"><\/div>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">More Debt<\/h2>\n<p>The first is government debt. The national debt exceeds <a href=\"https:\/\/fred.stlouisfed.org\/series\/GFDEBTN\">$34 trillion<\/a>. The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) forecasts that federal interest payments on the debt will reach <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbo.gov\/publication\/59946\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">$870 billion in 2024<\/a>. That would make paying interest the third-largest federal spending program, behind only Social Security and Medicare (and moving it ahead of national defense for the first time). According to CBO, these interest payments alone will consume more than one-third of all federal personal income tax revenue in 2024. In other words, $1 in $3 of your income tax will pay for precisely nothing this year. The last thing we need is bigger government with more federal jobs.<\/p>\n<p>Our mismanaged states face their own fiscal nightmares. California is on track to run a <a href=\"https:\/\/lao.ca.gov\/Publications\/Report\/4850\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">$73 billion deficit<\/a> this year. New York also <a href=\"https:\/\/cbcny.org\/research\/nys-budget-outlook\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">anticipates<\/a> large, sustained future budget deficits even after applying optimistic (and unrealistic) revenue projections. The last thing these states need is bigger government with more state jobs.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0U.S. has faced another insidious problem for decades that gets little attention. There are more than 3,000 counties or county equivalents in the United States. Yet, half of the 10 wealthiest counties in the U.S., measured in terms of median household income, are <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usnews.com\/news\/healthiest-communities\/slideshows\/richest-counties-in-america?slide=17\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">suburbs of Washington, D.C.<\/a> According to U.S. Census data, 50 years ago <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/1972\/09\/19\/archives\/50-richest-counties-are-in-suburbs.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">only five<\/a> suburban D.C. counties made the list of the top 50 richest U.S. counties or equivalents. By 2020, this figure had more than tripled to 17. <\/p>\n<p>Perhaps Americans tolerate this situation because federal civil servants tell them times are good when they are not.
