Healthcare providers who perform the abortion unlawfully will receive a mandated jail sentence of two to five years, as well, under the ruling.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/one-of-two-wisconsin-supreme-court-rulings-give-president-trump-the-win-should-be-enough-votes-to-win-the-state\/\" title=\"One of Two Wisconsin Supreme Court Rulings Give President Trump the Win \u2013 Should Be Enough Votes to Win the State\">court ruling<\/a>, based on a territorial law passed before Arizona was a state, issued a wave of disapproval and outrage from both Democrats and Republicans, including vulnerable members of Arizona\u2019s House delegation and Senate candidate Kari Lake.<\/p>\n<p>Rep. Juan Ciscomani (R-AZ) blasted the law as \u201carchaic\u201d and going way further than the state\u2019s current restrictions on abortion that ban the procedure after 15 weeks.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cToday\u2019s ruling is a disaster for women and providers,\u201d Ciscomani said in a <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/repciscomani\/status\/1777757519504380389?s=46&#038;t=Gepuixs8AegS3Gcy3aXO2g\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>statement<\/a> on Tuesday. \u201cIn Arizona, our 15 week law protected the rights of women and new life. It respected women and the difficult decision of ending a pregnancy \u2014 one I will never personally experience and won\u2019t pretend to understand.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Rep. David Schweikert (R-AZ), who had celebrated the overturning of <em>Roe v. Wade<\/em> through a personal story regarding abortion, also came out in opposition to the state high court\u2019s ruling.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI do not support today\u2019s ruling from the AZ Supreme Court,\u201d Schweikert said. \u201cThis issue should be decided by Arizonans, not legislated from the bench. I encourage the state legislature to address this issue immediately.\u201d<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RepDavid\/status\/1777778129483780533\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Former Republican Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey, who signed the 15-week ban into law, said he did so because it was a \u201cthoughtful and conservative policy\u201d that Arizonans can \u201cactually agree on.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe ruling today is not the outcome I would have preferred, and I call on our elected leaders to heed the will of the people and address this issue with a policy that is workable and reflective of our electorate,\u201d Ducey <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/dougducey\/status\/1777749104589930838?s=46&#038;t=Gepuixs8AegS3Gcy3aXO2g\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>said<\/a> in a post to X.<\/p>\n<p>Arizona\u2019s ruling comes just one day after former President Donald Trump <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/2957228\/trump-draws-line-in-sand-abortion-as-republicans-try-find-footing-pivotal-subject\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>issued a lengthy statement<\/a> on his stance on abortion. Despite taking credit for overturning <em>Roe, <\/em>he argued against a national ban on abortion and called for the decision to rest with the states, drawing heavy criticism from hard-line conservative and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/remember-when-media-freaked-out-over-amy-coney-barrett-and-the-right-wing-supreme-court\/\" title=\"Remember When Media Freaked Out Over Amy Coney Barrett And The Right Wing Supreme Court?\">anti-abortion groups<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Lake, who is a staunch supporter of Trump and a pro-life supporter, spoke out against the court\u2019s decision. She said the ruling is \u201cout of step with Arizonans.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI wholeheartedly agree with President Trump \u2014 this is a very personal issue that should be determined by each individual state and her people,\u201d Lake said in a <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/KariLake\/status\/1777763769890071022\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>statement<\/a> on Tuesday. \u201cI oppose today\u2019s ruling, and I am calling on Katie Hobbs and the State Legislature to come up with an immediate common sense solution that Arizonans can support.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>The court\u2019s ruling could have significant ramifications for Republicans as they seek to flip Sen.
