Known \u200cfor\u200b controversial actions, Moraes has been critiqued for exerting power to silence perceived threats \u2062to Brazil&#8217;s \u2062institutions.\u2063 He has a \u2064history of imprisoning\u200c individuals,\u200b suspending officials, and \u2063blocking\u2064 content \u200con <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/im-kind-of-a-jerk-carlson-mocks-implosion-of-2-gop-hopefuls-during-interview-with-beck\/\" title=\"Carlson ridicules downfall of 2 GOP candidates in chat with Beck\">social \u2062media<\/a>.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<p>Brazilian Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes, who is widely viewed as controversial because he seems to use the judicial system to impose his will on others, is targeting X owner <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/topic\/elon-musk\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Elon Musk<\/a> and employees at the company for refusing to restrict accounts on the platform that engage in what he alleges is the dissemination of fake news.<\/p>\n<p>De Moraes is so controversial that even The New York Times <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2023\/01\/22\/world\/americas\/brazil-alexandre-de-moraes.html\">notes<\/a> that he uses \u201ca broad interpretation of the court\u2019s powers\u201d to \u201cinvestigate and prosecute, as well as to silence on social media, anyone he deems a menace to Brazil\u2019s institutions.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Times noted that he has jailed people for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/why-this-average-american-is-voting-for-donald-trump\/\" title=\"Why This Average American Is Voting for Donald Trump\">social media posts<\/a>, suspended an elected governor from his job, \u201cordered raids on businessmen with little evidence of wrongdoing,\u201d and has \u201cunilaterally blocked dozens of accounts and thousands of posts on social media, with virtually no transparency or room for appeal.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In addition to investigating Musk and X for content allowed on the platform, de Moraes has now opened a separate probe into Musk for what he claims is a \u201cdisinformation campaign\u201d against Brazil\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/have-the-courts-been-compromised-too-where-are-the-righteous-judges-supreme-court-slows-president-trumps-pa-case\/\" title=\"Have the Courts Been Compromised Too? Supreme Court Slows President Trump\u2019s PA Case!\">court system<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe flagrant conduct of obstruction of Brazilian justice, incitement of crime, the public threat of disobedience of court orders and future lack of cooperation from the platform are facts that disrespect the sovereignty of Brazil,\u201d de Moraes claimed.<\/p>\n<p>Musk said that de Moraes \u201cdemanded that X suspend accounts of people who raised corruption concerns while insisting that X pretend the suspension was for violating our terms of service!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe obey the laws of countries even if we disagree with them, but this required violating the laws of Brazil,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p><b><a href=\"https:\/\/onelink.to\/dwapp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" aria-describedby=\"sk-tooltip-9096\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/onelink.to\/dwapp&#038;source=gmail&#038;ust=1700760801843000&#038;usg=AOvVaw2PQrVSrJfhxNb4LcARqniG\">CLICK HERE TO GET THE DAILYWIRE+ APP<\/a><\/b><\/p>\n<p>Musk said that de Moraes was one of the justices who \u201cpulled [Current Brazilian President Luiz In\u00e1cio] Lula [da Silva] out of prison and put his thumb on the scale to get Lula elected,\u201d and added that \u201cLula will obviously not take action against him.
