Former Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot has been appointed as\u200b a &#8220;special investigator&#8221; to scrutinize the spending \u2064patterns\u2063 of Mayor Tiffany \u200dHenyard of Dolton, Illinois. Lightfoot&#8217;s role entails investigating Mayor Henyard&#8217;s purported extravagant\u2064 expenditures on high-end accommodations and travel, for which she will receive compensation at an hourly rate of $400. This inquiry has generated controversy, with Mayor Henyard anticipated to contest\u2062 the \u200bappointment.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Former Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.chicagotribune.com\/2024\/04\/08\/dolton-trustees-hire-former-chicago-mayor-lori-lightfoot-as-special-investigator-i-will-follow-the-facts\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>hired<\/a> as the \u201cspecial investigator\u201d in charge of probing the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/budgets-and-deficits\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>spending habits<\/a> of Mayor Tiffany Henyard of the village of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/illinois\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Dolton, Illinois. <\/a><\/p>\n<p>Dolton trustees voted in favor of a resolution for Lightfoot to be paid $400 per hour to investigate the \u201cworst mayor in America\u201d for her lavish spending on five-star hotels and first-class travel. Henyard was not present at the meeting that appointed\u00a0Lightfoot and is expected to veto the action as illegal. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe people in this village want something different. They want to go in a different direction,\u201d Lightfoot said at Monday\u2019s meeting for her appointment as \u201cspecial investigator.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Last month, village trustees convened at a meeting to discuss bringing an outside investigator to look into Henyard\u2019s trips. In 2023, Henyard was accompanied by two village trustees and some village employees on a trip to Las Vegas. While the previous investigation into the trip did not find any wrongdoing, Trustee Jason House, who was not on the trip, said the investigation was not conducted in good faith.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is about more than getting the financial documentation for the board members,\u201d Trustee Jason House <a href=\"https:\/\/www.chicagotribune.com\/2024\/03\/22\/dolton-trustees-vote-for-more-transparent-investigation-into-mayor-tiffany-henyards-las-vegas-trip\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>said<\/a>. \u201cThis would empower the state to actually issue the check once it\u2019s been voted on by the board.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Trustees want Lightfoot to investigate Henyard\u2019s trip to Las Vegas. Under the terms of the agreement, Lightfoot will give a full summary of her findings when the bill for her work reaches $30,000. <\/p>\n<p>Lightfoot does not work for a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/did-president-trump-spring-a-trap-on-treasonous-democrats-on-election-night\/\" title=\"Did President Trump Spring a Trap on Treasonous Democrats on Election Night?\">law enforcement agency<\/a> and, therefore, would not have the right to issue subpoenas. She asked for \u201cthe full cooperation of the mayor\u201d and her staff. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m expecting there will be some roadblocks,\u201d Lightfoot said. \u201cI am a very determined person.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A law firm representing Dolton warned the trustees that appointing Lightfoot may be beyond their scope of work.
