This <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/bahrain-administering-chinas-sinopharm-coronavirus-vaccine-to-3-year-olds\/\" title=\"Bahrain Administering China's Sinopharm Coronavirus Vaccine to 3-Year-Olds\">move aims<\/a> to boost\u2064 liquidity by $340 million over two years due\u200d to engine \u2064issues and\u2062 the scrapped JetBlue-Spirit merger, \u2063allowing the airline to adapt to \u2064industry changes.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<div>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/2899545\/boeing-debates-buying-spirit-aerosystems-737-max-concerns\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"Spirit\">Spirit<\/a> Airlines announced Monday that it reached an agreement with Airbus to defer all <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/aviation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"aircraft\">aircraft<\/a> deliveries to improve liquidity, adding that it will furlough 260 pilots. <\/p>\n<p>All Airbus planes scheduled for delivery from the second quarter of 2025 to the end of 2026 will instead be delivered between 2030 and 2031. However, that does not include the scheduled direct-lease aircraft deliveries, with one each in the second and third quarter of next year, Spirit <a href=\"https:\/\/ir.spirit.com\/news-releases\/news-details\/2024\/Spirit-Airlines-Announces-Deferral-of-Airbus-Aircraft-Deliveries\/default.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>said<\/a> in a news release. <\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/airbus-eases-pressure-on-suppliers-but-keeps-output-goals-sources\/\" title=\"Airbus eases pressure on suppliers but keeps output goals -sources\">deferred deliveries<\/a> are an attempt by Spirit to improve its liquidity by $340 million over the next two years after the European planemaker grounded all aircraft with Pratt and Whitney engines for the duration of 2024 due to a rare manufacturing flaw. Spirit\u2019s announcement also follows the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/business\/2900878\/jetblue-spirit-airlines-drop-planned-merger\/\">JetBlue and Spirit merger<\/a> that fell through last month. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cDeferring these aircraft gives us the opportunity to reset the business and focus on the core airline while we adjust to changes in the competitive environment,\u201d Spirit CEO Ted Christie said. \u201cIn addition, enhancing our liquidity provides us additional financial stability as we position the Company for a return to profitability.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Spirit won\u2019t start furloughing its pilots until Sept. 1. There have not been any cabin crew furloughs, though Spirit will be closing its Atlantic City, New Jersey, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/amtrak-expects-to-temporarily-slash-service-over-biden-vaccine-mandate\/\" title=\"Amtrak Expects to Temporarily Slash Service over Biden Vaccine Mandate\">crew base<\/a> and reassigning its staff, CNBC <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2024\/04\/08\/spirit-airlines-will-defer-airbus-orders-furlough-260-pilots.html\">reported<\/a>.  <\/p>\n<p>Spirit\u2019s pilots union, the Air Line Pilots Association, voiced its concern to the outlet following Spirit\u2019s announcement. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cCoupled with the retirement of our A319 fleet and the ongoing Pratt &#038; Whitney GTF engine issue, the airline finds itself with more pilots than its operations require,\u201d Ryan Muller, chairman of the Spirit ALPA chapter, told CNBC. \u201cThe ramifications of the Company\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/italian-indecision-bickering-parties-beg-elderly-prez-to-stay-for-another-term\/\" title=\"Italian Indecision: Bickering Parties Beg Elderly Prez to Stay for Another Term\">announced decision<\/a> are deeply troubling for our entire pilot group.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In the first two months of the year, Airbus delivered 79 planes. Meanwhile, competitor <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/boeing\/\" title=\"Boeing\">Boeing<\/a> has grappled with production delays.
