The National Association\u2063 of Intercollegiate Athletics made a groundbreaking decision\u2064 to allow only biological\u2063 females in \u200bwomen&#8217;s sports, excluding transgender \u200cmen.\u2062 This ruling, a first in national collegiate sports governance, from the NAIA \u200dsparks discussions in\u2062 the\u200b broader collegiate sports community.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/sports\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics <\/a>announced Monday that only biological females can compete in female sports, blocking <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/transgender\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>transgender-identifying<\/a> men from doing so.<\/p>\n<p>With its vote, the NAIA, an association that covers mostly small <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/higher-education\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>colleges<\/a>, has become the first national college governing body to make such a decision, teeing up the question for the much-larger National Collegiate Athletic Association.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are unwavering in our support of fair competition for our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/aclu-issues-twitter-thread-allegedly-debunking-myths-about-trans-students-in-sports\/\" title=\"ACLU Issues Twitter Thread Allegedly Debunking \u2018Myths\u2019 About Trans Students In Sports\">student-athletes<\/a>,\u201d NAIA President and CEO Jim Carr said in a press release. \u201cIt is crucial that NAIA <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/watch-dems-scream-pound-desks-when-gop-female-rep-proposes-protecting-womens-sports\/\" title=\"WATCH: Dems Scream, Pound Desks When GOP Female Rep Proposes Protecting Women\u2019s Sports\">member institutions<\/a>, conferences, and student-athletes participate in an environment that is equitable and respectful. With input from our member institutions and the Transgender Task Force, the NAIA\u2019s Council of Presidents has confirmed our path forward.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Council of Presidents\u2019s vote means that starting on Aug. 1, schools under the NAIA banner will have to start complying with the conditions set in the \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.naia.org\/transgender\/files\/TG_Policy_for_webpage_v2.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>transgender participation policy<\/a>,\u201d which states \u201conly students whose biological sex is female\u201d may compete in female sports.<\/p>\n<p>While the organization will allow all students to compete in men\u2019s sports, it is now blocking all biological males from female sports. It will also start limiting female students who have started a medical transition process, such as \u201cmasculinizing hormone therapy,\u201d to \u201cactivities internal to the institution\u201d and \u201cexternal competition that is not a countable contest as defined by the NAIA.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The NAIA, which covers 241 member schools, said it believes its policy is in line with the true intent of Title IX, saying the civil rights statute \u201censures there are separate and equal opportunities for female athletes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">CLICK HERE TO READ MORE FROM THE WASHINGTON EXAMINER<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Conservatives have been questioning the fairness of allowing biologically male students to compete against women in sports, which was highlighted in 2022 when University of Pennsylvania swimmer Lia Thomas, a biological male who identifies as a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/christian-organization-suspended-from-twitter-after-calling-dr-rachel-levine-a-man-who-believes-he-is-a-woman\/\" title=\"Christian Organization Suspended From Twitter After Calling Dr. Rachel Levine \u2018A Man Who Believes He Is A Woman\u2019\">transgender woman<\/a>, won the NCAA Division I championship.<\/p>\n<p>In 2022, the NCAA <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncaa.org\/sports\/2022\/1\/27\/transgender-participation-policy.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>announced<\/a> a strategy to determine transgender-identifying athletes\u2019 participation in sports, allowing the governing bodies of each individual sport to make the determination.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics voted to restrict female sports to biological females only, barring transgender-identifying men.
