Jim McGovern, a House Democrat, finds it ironic to receive a lecture on civility from MTG\">challenging\u200b political \u2063landscape<\/a>.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<p>Democratic lawmakers and political strategists are eyeing the three Midwestern states of Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin \u2014 often referred to as the \u201cblue wall\u201d \u2014 to deliver a 2024 re-election victory for President Joe Biden.<\/p>\n<p>Senate Democratic Policy and Communications Committee Chair Debbie Stabenow (D-MI) told <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/state-watch\/4577632-democrats-blue-wall-biden\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Hill<\/a> that the blue wall \u201cwas critical\u201d in both 2020, when Biden defeated former President Donald Trump, and in 2016 when Trump won over Democrat Hillary Clinton. Stabenow said she believes the president will fare well in her home state of Michigan, along with the other blue wall states, because the Biden administration is \u201cbringing jobs back.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBasically, the Biden administration is doing everything that others \u2014 including Donald Trump \u2014 have talked about but were never really serious about doing,\u201d Stabenow added. \u201cPresident Biden is aiming right at the middle class: particularly, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/biden-attacks-trumps-record-during-labor-day-speech\/\" title=\"Biden criticizes Trump's track record in Labor Day speech.\">bringing jobs home<\/a>. John Hickenlooper (D-CO) echoed Stabenow\u2019s confidence, predicting that Biden would win in all three blue wall states by focusing on the economy, according to The Hill.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s too early to tell for sure, but I think the economy continues to grow, and we\u2019re seeing the MAGA side of the Republican Party clearly making politics, trying to block making things better at the border, solving some of those problems, for political advantage,\u201d said Hickenlooper.<\/p>\n<p>In each of the past four presidential elections, the winner has taken all three blue wall states with Trump, in 2016, being the only Republican to win all three since Ronald Reagan did it in 1984. Currently, Trump leads Biden in Michigan and Wisconsin, according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.realclearpolling.com\/elections\/president\/2024\/battleground-states\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">RealClearPolitcs<\/a> average of polling, and Biden leads by less than one point in Pennsylvania.<\/p>\n<p>Trump leads in each of the other four battleground states, according to the RCP average, but Biden has recently cut into the Republcan\u2019s polling advantage. According to the polling average as of Monday afternoon, Trump takes six of the seven toss-up states, giving him 293 electoral votes to Biden\u2019s 245.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.270towin.com\/maps\/yP2nv\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Democrats who spoke to The Hill conceded that Biden pulling off wins in Arizona and Georgia would be tough this year, but they believe there\u2019s an open path for the president to win re-election without those two states. Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin are all states that, by and large, we\u2019ve done pretty well in over the years \u2014 2016 being the outlier there,\u201d said Democratic strategist Steve Schale, a senior adviser on Obama\u2019s 2012 re-election campaign.<\/p>\n<p>Both Biden and Trump have visited Michigan and Wisconsin in recent days, with Trump focusing heavily on the border crisis and Biden narrowing in on his economic agenda, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/joe-biden-signs-memorandum-backpedaling-on-president-trumps-abortion-policies\/\" title=\"Joe Biden signs memorandum backpedaling on President Trump\u2019s abortion policies\">pro-abortion policies<\/a>, and student debt relief efforts. Abortion will likely remain the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/dem-leaders-push-to-make-abortion-the-pivotal-issue-of-2024\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">top issue<\/a> for the Biden campaign, especially in Michigan, where voters chose to add the right to have an abortion to the State Constitution.<\/p>\n<p>Trump <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/trump-releases-long-awaited-abortion-position-says-policies-should-be-left-to-states\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">released a statement<\/a> on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/rnc-chair-condemns-biden-abortion-policy\/\" title=\"RNC chair condemns Biden abortion policy\">abortion policy<\/a> on Monday morning, saying he supports states deciding abortion laws and is against federal abortion limitations.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy view is now that we have abortion where everybody wanted it from a legal standpoint, the states will determine by vote or legislation or perhaps both, and whatever they decide must be the law of the land.
