Schumer pushes for student loan forgiveness\">cancel student debt<\/a> for as many borrowers as possible, as quickly as possible,&#8221; the White House said in the statement. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The Monday proposal is President Joe Biden\u2019s latest effort to circumvent the Supreme Court in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/democrats-push-for-student-debt-forgiveness-would-cost-taxpayers-millions\/\" title=\"Democrats push for student debt forgiveness, would cost taxpayers millions\">canceling student debt<\/a> after it <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/freebeacon.com\/courts\/supreme-court-strikes-down-bidens-student-loan-forgiveness-program\/\"><span>struck<\/span><\/a><span>  down his program last June that sought to forgive more than $400 billion in student loans for about 43 million Americans. <\/span>\t<\/p>\n<p><span>In February, the Biden administration <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ed.gov\/news\/press-releases\/biden-harris-administration-approves-12-billion-loan-forgiveness-over-150000-save-plan-borrowers\"><span>approved<\/span><\/a><span>  $1.2 billion in loan forgiveness for more than 150,000 borrowers enrolled in Biden\u2019s Saving on a Valuable Education Plan.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Eleven Republican-led states on March 28 <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/student-loan-cancellation-debt-lawsuit-republicans-biden-b60d13539b2f2aef2869d56e63f33a3b\"><span>filed<\/span><\/a><span>  a federal lawsuit against the administration, arguing Biden overstepped his authority again in creating the SAVE Plan. &#8220;Last time Defendants tried this the Supreme Court said that this action was illegal.
