Beyond monetary prizes for the top five social media influencers, the GOTV effort offered free food and beverages and a \u201cFREE Open Bar.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>That all appears to be illegal under the <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.legis.wisconsin.gov\/statutes\/statutes\/12\/11\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Wisconsin statute<\/a> that frowns on election bribery. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have significant concerns about this event, but more particularly the social media influencer competition as it may run afoul of Section 12.11 of the Wisconsin Statutes which prohibits \u2018election bribery\u2019,\u201d Lasee wrote in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.scribd.com\/document\/719663138\/Brown-County-DA-statement-on-GOTV-effort\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">letter<\/a> to the executive directors of the groups that make up United Front for Change: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.weallriseaarc.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">We All Rise: African American Resource Center,<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.casaalba.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Casa ALBA Melanie,<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.comsausa.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">COMSA<\/a>, as well as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/9to5Wisconsin\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">9 to 5 Wisconsin<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTherefore, I would strongly encourage that whomever may be responsible for the social media competition immediately discontinue that activity,\u201d Lasee continued. \u201cFurther, to the extent that you intend to hold the event, which publicizes free food, drinks, and rides to the polls, that you be keenly aware of the restriction set forth in the above referenced statute. Shae Sortwell, R-Two Rivers, said the cash consideration GOTV drive was just the latest example of leftist groups \u201ctrying to push the envelope and get around state law when it comes to proper ways of doing elections.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>The Green Bay-area lawmaker knows that of which he speaks. He filed an open records request in the wake of the 2020 presidential election that delivered hundreds of pages of communications exposing Green Bay\u2019s Democrat mayor and his staff working hand-in-hand with leftist organizations. It was all part of the <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2021\/10\/12\/the-2020-election-wasnt-stolen-it-was-bought-by-mark-zuckerberg\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Zuckbucks scandal<\/a> in which Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg and his wife Pricilla Chan dumped hundreds of millions of dollars into local election offices via grants that were supposedly intended to help offset the challenges of Covid-19. The money was administered by the Chicago-based <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailysignal.com\/2021\/03\/11\/zuckerberg-grant-allowed-outsider-to-infiltrate-presidential-election-in-wisconsin\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Center for Tech and Civic Life<\/a> (CTCL), a leftist organization with ties to the Democrat Party and former President Barack Obama. <\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-a4ac33090062830f1979c406e3d72a73 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-10\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-a4ac33090062830f1979c406e3d72a73\"><\/div>\n<p>As The Federalist has <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/09\/22\/irs-must-look-into-tax-breaks-zuckerberg-received-for-2020-election-meddling-complaint-says\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">detailed<\/a>, CTCL\u2019s network of left-leaning activist groups <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2021\/03\/10\/how-mark-zuckerbergs-election-money-helped-an-out-of-state-democrat-get-his-hands-on-wisconsins-2020-vote\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">infiltrated Green Bay\u2019s election office<\/a> and those of other large and Democrat-heavy Wisconsin cities. Longtime Democrat operative <a href=\"https:\/\/www.influencewatch.org\/person\/michael-spitzer-rubenstein\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Michael Spitzer-Rubenstein<\/a> was even <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2021\/03\/10\/how-mark-zuckerbergs-election-money-helped-an-out-of-state-democrat-get-his-hands-on-wisconsins-2020-vote\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">given the keys<\/a> to the storage room that held Green Bay\u2019s absentee ballots on Election Day 2020. <\/p>\n<p>Sortwell said he\u2019s happy to see the latest suspect GOTV effort shut down so quickly, but he thinks it may have operated long enough to affect the outcome of Green Bay\u2019s City Council election. Leftist <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wpr.org\/news\/tuesday-primary-election-green-bay-city-council-left\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Joey Prestley<\/a> beat conservative incumbent Alder Steven Campbell, helping liberals take back control of the council. Prestley won by just <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbc26.com\/election-results\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">15 votes<\/a> (2 percent) in the low-turnout spring election.<\/p>\n<p>Leftist Mayor Eric Genrich, who has been at the center of multiple city election controversies, congratulated Prestley on social media, <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/MayorGenrich\/status\/1775524962721288434\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">taking<\/a> a shot at Campbell. <\/p>\n<p>\u201c\u2026[W]e won\u2019t have to worry about him playing a recording of the Jan 6 Choir during our invocation,\u201d the Democrat wrote on his X account, making a reference to Campbell playing the recording of a group of J6 defendants imprisoned in connection with the 2021 Capitol riots. <\/p>\n<p>The mayor, meanwhile, is being <a href=\"https:\/\/fox11online.com\/news\/local\/green-bay-wins-partial-rulings-in-city-hall-recording-case-andre-jacques-eric-genrich-anthony-theisen-surveillance#\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">sued<\/a> in federal court after it was discovered the city had installed surveillance equipment in City Hall, which plaintiffs allege was implemented to spy on political opponents. Genrich and crew did so without the City Council\u2019s permission \u2014 or knowledge, according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/fox11online.com\/news\/local\/green-bay-wins-partial-rulings-in-city-hall-recording-case-andre-jacques-eric-genrich-anthony-theisen-surveillance#\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">complaint.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Sortwell said that Green Bay\u2019s district attorney, a Republican, has been alerted to the election shenanigans of the left. But will leftists learn from their latest contested trick? <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey always like to push the envelope,\u201d the lawmaker said. \u201cIt won\u2019t surprise me if they come up with some variation on that and pretend they weren\u2019t doing what we all know they were doing.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>\u201cTrying to have election integrity with certain members of the left is like playing Whac-a-Mole.
