Wade<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Now the presumptive GOP presidential nominee, after his major rivals dropped out and he secured enough delegates to clinch the nomination, Trump announced his position on the contentious issue in a <a href=\"https:\/\/truthsocial.com\/@realDonaldTrump\/posts\/112235238031827342\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">video<\/a> posted to his Truth Social platform.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy view is now that we have abortion where everybody wanted it from a legal standpoint, the states will determine by vote or legislation or perhaps both, and whatever they decide must be the law of the land. Anthony Pro-Life America, released a statement that said her group is \u201cdeeply disappointed in President Trump\u2019s position.\u201d She continued, \u201cSaying the issue is \u2018back to the states\u2019 cedes the national debate to the Democrats.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Polls have <a href=\"https:\/\/news.gallup.com\/poll\/506759\/broader-support-abortion-rights-continues-post-dobbs.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">shown<\/a>, time and again, that most Americans want abortion to be legal after the 2022 ruling in the <em>Dobbs v. Jackson Women\u2019s Health Organization<\/em> that returned the issue to the states after several decades, though many are <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/policy\/healthcare\/4482995-poll-16-week-abortion-ban\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">open to restrictions<\/a> such as a ban after 16 weeks.<\/p>\n<p>Anti-abortion measures that have been placed on the ballot over the past two years in states including <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/politics\/2022-election\/kentucky-voters-reject-anti-abortion-ballot-measure-rcna56313\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Kentucky<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/pro-life-amendment-in-kansas-was-first-abortion-test-since-roe-v-wade-overturned-heres-how-it-fared\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Kansas<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/big-abortion-won-ohio-voters-add-abortion-to-state-constitution\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ohio<\/a> have not fared well.
