The judge has well-established political biases \u2014 which look particularly bad in light of his recent unlawful gag order that prohibits Trump from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/fact-check-did-joe-biden-say-mark-my-words-peace-and-democracy-will-be-made-in-uganda\/\" title=\"FACT CHECK: Did Joe Biden Say, \u2018Mark My Words: Peace And Democracy Will Be Made In Uganda\u2019?\">making public statements<\/a> about people involved in the case, including the judge\u2019s anti-Trump activist daughter. <\/p>\n<p>Liberal Judge Merchan\u2019s gag order on President Trump prompted the discovery that Loren Merchan, his daughter, has ties to outspoken Trump opponents. A 2022 wedding announcement in Politico <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/newsletters\/playbook\/2022\/06\/05\/democracy-week-in-washington-00037266\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">identified<\/a> Loren Merchan as president and partner of the Democrat marketing firm Authentic Campaigns, the clientele of which includes some of Trump\u2019s top rivals in the Democrat party such as Rep. Adam Schiff, D-Calif., and Vice President Kamala Harris. <\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2-long d-flex justify-content-center\" style=\"margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center; \" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-762469347\">\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-1379703300879-0\" class=\"mb-30\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-8e5b69ca4bc5ac9acec6535ab8b23082 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-8e5b69ca4bc5ac9acec6535ab8b23082\"><\/div>\n<p>Trump\u2019s lawyers filed a motion to recuse last year due to Loren Merchan\u2019s organization receiving <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/bennyjohnson\/status\/1775619509937742263?s=20\">many millions of dollars<\/a> from top Democrat officials, including the Biden campaign. At the time, however, Trump was not yet the Republican presidential nominee. Since then, the motion alleges, more evidence of partiality has surfaced. As journalist Julie Kelly <a href=\"https:\/\/www.declassified.live\/p\/ties-between-judge-merchans-child\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">revealed<\/a> last Monday, Loren Merchan\u2019s organization has received massive payments from Schiff that <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/julie_kelly2\/status\/1774950719629431228?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">totaled $4 million<\/a>. Schiff reportedly made the payments while he was working to take down Trump with Michael Cohen, who is also set to appear as a witness in Judge Merchan\u2019s courtroom. <\/p>\n<p>Even the judge himself has <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2023\/04\/07\/trump-case-judge-juan-merchan-donated-to-biden-campaign-in-2020\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">donated<\/a> to Democrats. In fact, Federal Election Commission records <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fec.gov\/data\/receipts\/?data_type=processed&#038;contributor_name=Juan+Merchan\">show<\/a> he made a donation Joe Biden, Trump\u2019s 2024 rival, during their first presidential matchup in 2020, a donation to a group called Stop Republicans, and more.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is so brazen and in your face. \u2026 We have a real problem [and] crisis in the judiciary because there has been no oversight of these judges\u2026\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/bennyjohnson\/status\/1775619509937742263?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Kelly said<\/a> on \u201cThe Benny Show.\u201d \u201cThey shove it right in our face and in Donald Trump\u2019s face because they know there\u2019s very limited recourse on this.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>If the obvious conflict of interest weren\u2019t enough, Loren Merchan has frequently donated to Democrat candidates through ActBlue, and her <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/LauraLoomer\/status\/1772739965320913189?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">X account<\/a> previously featured a profile picture of President Trump behind bars. <\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-2c7d05e97711e79be01cb9d7029894af fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-6\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-2c7d05e97711e79be01cb9d7029894af\"><\/div>\n<p>As the Trump team\u2019s new recusal motion states, \u201cThe extent to which these proceedings are interfering with the 2024 election is no longer, as the Court put it previously, \u2018remote, speculative, \u201cpossible or contingent.\u201d\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Knowing his daughter\u2019s well-documented partisan ties, Judge Merchan chose to get ahead of Trump revealing the family\u2019s biases, seeing as Trump has exposed other judges\u2019 partisan weaponization before. The judge issued a gag order that blocks Trump from speaking not only about people involved in the case, but about their <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/julie_kelly2\/status\/1774957387067031774\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">families<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>Judge Merchan\u2019s power play is a flagrant abuse of judicial authority and an egregious violation of the First Amendment. Trump exposing Loren Merhan\u2019s political activity is well within his rights as an American citizen. Yet the judge is trying to silence Trump\u2019s criticisms, effectively shielding himself from accountability and casting a shadow of censorship over the legal proceedings. This gag order on a former president shows Merchan\u2019s massive disregard for free speech and a blatant attempt to protect his own biases from scrutiny. <\/p>\n<p>This judicial overreach not only threatens the former president\u2019s First Amendment rights but also interferes with the election by directly attacking Trump\u2019s campaign and sucking up his resources. Judge Merchan has shown himself to be a partisan puppeteer pulling the strings of justice, and legal experts are astonished he didn\u2019t recuse himself from the case given his daughter\u2019s anti-Trump activism. <\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-dd4b796e950c43e96e488bc7665cdb70 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-10\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-dd4b796e950c43e96e488bc7665cdb70\"><\/div>\n<p>\u201cPutting a gag order on a criminal defendant is a clear violation of his constitutional rights,\u201d legal expert and founder of the Article III Project <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/mrddmia\/status\/1774984991967002744?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Mike Davis posted on X<\/a>. \u201cThis Democrat judge won\u2019t let the law get in his way of his partisan pursuit of Trump. (Why doesn\u2019t he want the public to know his adult daughter might be profiting from this trial?)\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/julie_kelly2\/status\/1774957387067031774\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/trump-gag-order-expanded-to-include-judges-daughter\/\" title=\"Restraining order on Trump now covers judge's daughter too\">expanded gag order<\/a><\/a> also violates the public\u2019s right to know the truth about this trial and the corrupt players behind it. By stifling Trump from addressing politically motivated injustices, Merchan is trying to silence dissent and maintain control of the narrative by instilling fear and intimidation.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s a blatant misuse of power, especially ahead of this year\u2019s election, for an openly liberal judge, whose daughter\u2019s campaign consulting firm has ties to Trump\u2019s top adversaries, to gag Trump so he couldn\u2019t expose it. Our justice system rests on upholding the Constitution, and that requires the vehement rejection of Judge Merchan\u2019s attempt to silence Trump and deny him a fair trial.
