French Hill (R-AR) said during an interview over the weekend that he expects the House of Representatives to re-authorize FISA Section 702 before it expires later this month.<\/p>\n<p>FISA Section 702 authorizes the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/u-s-spy-chief-report-warns-tech-devices-giving-intel-community-unfettered-access-to-americans-personal-info\/\" title=\"US Spy Chief Report: Tech Devices Grant Intel Community Unrestricted Access to Americans' Personal Data\">targeted collection<\/a> of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/report-fbi-spied-on-3-3-million-americans-without-a-warrant\/\" title=\"Report: FBI Spied on 3.3 Million Americans Without a Warrant\">foreign intelligence information<\/a> from non-U.S. persons located overseas and is critical to defending against national security threats, U.S. officials say.<\/p>\n<p>Hill, who is on the Intelligence Committee, made the remarks during a Sunday interview on CBS News\u2019 \u201cFace The Nation\u201d with Margaret Brennan when he was asked about increased terror threat levels from Islamic terrorists.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am confident that we will have support for renewing the authorization for the use of 702, which is a critical element \u2013 I\u2019ve seen in intimate detail the vital role that 702 surveillance plays in keeping America safe,\u201d he said. \u201cI think Congress will come together and we\u2019ll reauthorize its use. But that\u2019s also going to be part of 50 reforms in how the FISA court, the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court, and how the act operates. And it will be the first serious reforms in probably some 20 years. And these are 50 bipartisan reforms and reforms that I believe have the full support of House Republicans.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>WATCH:<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>Hill said that after the FISA extension passes, he expects that House Speaker Mike Johnson \u201cwill bring up support for the supplemental appropriations for Ukraine, for Taiwan, for Israel.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cUkraine remains a priority, as does our support for Israel and Taiwan,\u201d he added. \u201cAnd, yes, I believe he\u2019s fully committed to bringing it up to the floor immediately thereafter.
