The Arizona Senate race is\u2062 anticipated to draw\u2063 substantial spending, potentially influencing Senate control.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<div>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/republican\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"Republican\">Republican<\/a> Senate candidate <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/kari-lake\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"Republican\">Kari Lake<\/a> has been on the road, far from the state she\u2019s running to represent, to fundraise and build support for other MAGA-approved candidates.<\/p>\n<p>She\u2019s built a national profile since her failed <a href=\"http:\/\/washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/arizona\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Arizona<\/a> gubernatorial run in 2022, allowing her to appear at a steady clip of GOP events and build momentum for one of the most competitive Senate seats in 2024.<\/p>\n<p>Most recently this week, Lake\u2019s campaign <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/campaigns\/2951553\/kari-lake-raises-haul-mar-a-lago-fundraiser\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>announced<\/a> it raised $1 million at a fundraiser at former President Donald Trump\u2019s Mar-a-Lago resort, the most money raised by a nonincumbent at the Florida resort, according to a source familiar with the situation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe were honored by the support we received from Arizonans who joined us at our historic event at Mar-a-Lago last night, as well as the strong support from patriots across the nation who know that the Senate majority runs through Arizona and don\u2019t want to see a Far-Left socialist like Ruben Gallego in the U.S. Senate,\u201d a <a href=\"https:\/\/karilake.com\/icymi-kari-lake-raises-record-shattering-1-million-haul-at-mar-a-lago-fundraiser\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>statement<\/a> from her campaign reads. \u201cArizonans want to see Senator Kari Lake because they know that she will work to secure the border and get our economy back on track.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Last month, Lake raised $330,000 at a Washington, D.C., fundraising event hosted by Sen. Steve Daines (R-MT), the chairman of the Senate Republicans\u2019 campaign arm. The event was attended by over 20 Republican senators, including Minority Whip John Thune (R-SD), Republican Conference Chairman John Barrasso (R-WY), Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX) and others.<\/p>\n<p>Lake also has been stumping for Bernie Moreno, Trump\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/most-americans-think-another-trump-presidential-run-would-be-bad-for-the-country-poll-shows\/\" title=\"Most Americans Think Another Trump Presidential Run Would Be Bad For The Country, Poll Shows\">endorsed candidate<\/a> in Ohio, and other GOP candidates. She also spent time in Iowa and New Hampshire, campaigning with Trump during the primaries. According to reporting from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nationalreview.com\/2024\/04\/kari-lakes-out-of-state-travel-adds-up\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title><em>National Review<\/em><\/a>, Lake\u2019s itinerary has included more than a dozen appearances out-of-state since launching her Senate campaign last October.\u00a0Including her book tour and other political events, Lake\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/democrats-newest-political-crush-is-privileged-harvard-grad-who-pointed-gun-at-unarmed-black-man\/\" title=\"Democrats\u2019 Newest Political Crush Is \u2018Privileged\u2019 Harvard Grad Who Pointed Gun at Unarmed Black Man\">national celebrity status<\/a> will have taken her out of state more than 50 times from January 2023 through April 2024.<\/p>\n<p>Lake\u2019s recent fundraising hauls come ahead of her first<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/indian-american-immigrant-and-top-gop-prospect-enters-kansas-house-race\/\" title=\"Indian American immigrant runs for Kansas House seat as top GOP candidate.\">-quarter fundraising numbers<\/a> which will be made public at the end of the month. The U.S. Senate race in Arizona is expected to draw hundreds of millions of dollars in spending on behalf of the candidates in the race that could decide which party is in control of the Senate.<\/p>\n<p>Lake\u2019s Democratic challenger is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/ruben-gallego\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Rep. Ruben Gallego <\/a>(D-AZ), whose campaign <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/2950687\/gallego-doubles-quarterly-fundraising-sinema-arizona-senate-race\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>announced<\/a> it raised $7.5 million in the first three months of the year, more than doubling his prior quarterly filings after <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/kyrsten-sinema\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Sen. Kyrsten Sinema<\/a> (I-AZ) <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/2812364\/kyrsten-sinema-no-2024-reelection-senate\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>decided against running<\/a> for reelection last month.\u00a0That is more than double his biggest quarterly haul since entering the race in January 2023 and pushes his available cash to $9.6 million.<\/p>\n<p>Lake reflected on the topic of fundraising during an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.azcentral.com\/story\/news\/politics\/elections\/2024\/04\/02\/kari-lake-says-ruben-gallego-will-use-campaign-funds-to-trick-arizonans\/73171310007\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>event<\/a> this week in Sun City West, according to reporting from the <em>Arizona Republic<\/em>, suggesting her Democratic opponent had likely outraised her.<\/p>\n<p>She said Democrats and Gallego \u201ctake in a ton of money from God knows where and God knows who, and he\u2019s going to run ads making himself look like he\u2019s just a middle-of-the-road kind of guy. And it couldn\u2019t be further from the truth.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Democratic groups and Gallego\u2019s campaign plan to pour resources into the battleground state. On Thursday, Gallego <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/campaigns\/2953599\/ruben-gallego-campaign-million-dollar-ad-economic-concerns\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>released<\/a> his second television ad of his Senate run, an over $1 million <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=Nu0TKNu9J1w\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>30-second ad<\/a> titled \u201cBreathe Easier,\u201d which is now airing across the Phoenix and Tucson, Arizona, markets and digitally.<\/p>\n<p>Senate Majority PAC, the independent group associated with Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY), recently <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/campaigns\/2952568\/republicans-lean-candidate-war-chests-fundraising-shortfall\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>announced<\/a> that it plans to reserve $23 million in television advertising in Arizona beginning this summer.<\/p>\n<p>The Senate race in Arizona could be one of Republicans\u2019 best opportunities to seize control of the upper chamber next year. Polling shows a tight contest between Lake and Gallego, but the most recent surveys indicate Gallego has an edge. He leads Lake by 8 percentage points, 36% to 28%, according to a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rabaresearch.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/RABA-Arizona-Survey.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>poll by RABA Research<\/a> conducted during the last week of March.<\/p>\n<p>Lake\u2019s allies point out that Trump\u2019s polling in Arizona against Biden is a bright spot for the campaign. The former president is leading Biden 39% to 36%, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rabaresearch.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/RABA-Arizona-Survey.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>according to RABA Research<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>There are 34 Senate seats up for grabs in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/2024-elections\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>2024 election cycle<\/a>. Of those, Democrats must defend 23, compared to just 11 for Republicans \u2014 and nearly all competitive seats are held by Democrats, putting them on the defensive as they try to maintain their narrow majority.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">CLICK HERE TO READ MORE FROM THE WASHINGTON EXAMINER<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Democrats hold a slim 51-49 majority in the Senate, with the advantage of having Vice President Kamala Harris as a tiebreaker vote. As a result, Republicans only need to flip one Senate seat to win the majority if they are able to win back the White House in 2024.
