However, in an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/legal\/businessman-behind-trumps-ny-bond-says-he-charged-him-low-fee-2024-04-05\/#:~:text=NEW%20YORK%2C%20April%205%20(Reuters,former%20U.S.%20President%20was%20low\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"interview\">interview<\/a> with <em>Reuters<\/em>, he lamented that his low fee for the loan probably should have been higher, given the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/immigrant-business-owner-who-fled-communism-jailed-for-staying-open-supporters-back-her-with-gofundme\/\" title=\"Immigrant Business Owner Who Fled Communism Jailed For Staying Open, Supporters Back Her With GoFundMe\">legal trouble<\/a> he is facing.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe thought it would be an easy procedure that wouldn\u2019t involve other legal problems, and it\u2019s not turning out that way. We probably didn\u2019t charge enough,\u201d Hankey said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have been getting a lot of emails, a lot of phone calls. Maybe that\u2019s part of the reason he had trouble with other insurance companies,\u201d he added, clarifying that he did not regret posting the bond.<\/p>\n<p>Attorney General Letitia James cast scrutiny on the bond, demanding that Hankey prove that he had enough assets to pay in the event that Trump\u2019s appeal fails. The matter will have a hearing on April 22.<\/p>\n<p>Hankey expressed surprise over the scrutiny.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m surprised they\u2019re coming down harder on our bond or looking for reasons to cause issues with our instrument,\u201d he told <em>Reuters<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Hankey has declined to disclose the fee he charged Trump.
