Rowe equated this with\u200c segregation and called out Harvard&#8217;s approach. He highlighted various affinity \u2062celebrations at Harvard \u2063and emphasized his foundation&#8217;s\u2064 focus on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/mike-rowe-reacts-to-john-kerrys-solar-panel-comments-energy-cant-be-the-enemy\/\" title=\"Mike Rowe Reacts To John Kerry\u2019s Solar Panel Comments: \u2018Energy Can\u2019t Be The Enemy\u2019\">skilled labor<\/a> regardless of background.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/topic\/mike-rowe\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Mike Rowe<\/a> slammed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/harvard-law-professor-says-school-should-abandon-mandatory-dei-statements-ideological-pledges-of-allegiance\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Harvard\u2019s<\/a> \u201csegregation\u201d celebrations after the University once again said it would allow students to celebrate \u201cgraduation day with a series of affinity celebrations.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">In a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/angel-buffy-actress-charisma-carpenter-accuses-joss-whedon-of-misconduct\/\" title=\"\u2018Angel,\u2019 \u2018Buffy\u2019 Actress Charisma Carpenter Accuses Joss Whedon Of Misconduct\">lengthy post<\/a> on <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/100044228419568\/posts\/pfbid037e5bvraYn8FoWhoUWawHFMkfgQT669HJnDKrhHkK8XxoJaHtCHR22ofu63EmqVaUl\/?mibextid=cr9u03\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Facebook<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, the \u201cDirty Jobs\u201d host mocked the Ivy league school and asked, \u201cW<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">hat better way to celebrate Harvard\u2019s rich commitment to diversity, then by encouraging diverse groups to celebrate separately?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cThese [affinity] celebrations allow students to separate themselves from each other based on their racial and ethnic identities, and then, celebrate graduation with their own kind,\u201d Rowe wrote, with a link to the move by <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/gsas.harvard.edu\/commencement\/affinity-graduation-celebrations?fbclid=IwAR04TrHklV_y5rHl4RJV5OzFKYFdeaPqaaDYQptv_yr9R1oZciJpdVDVR-w_aem_AWEfkxpJBun5K-gAUUaK_xRLyOg2K0UtTnBP6Sy0D7injRwdB_XyrcwcVcu7tMXwIDwRWt4KW1RsiuH_uc3JvXYj\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Harvard<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cI\u2019m old enough to remember when this was called \u2018segregation,&#8217;\u201d he added. \u201cAt Harvard, they call it \u2018affinity.\u2019 To be fair, Harvard\u2019s website says these celebrations are not in lieu of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/school-retroactively-suspended-student-over-sexual-assault-allegations-after-he-graduated-the-school-just-settled\/\" title=\"School Retroactively Suspended Student Over Sexual Assault Allegations AFTER He Graduated. The School Just Settled.\">official graduation<\/a>, and open to all students who pre-register. The Affinity celebrations are. Why do you care? Why can\u2019t we celebrate how we choose?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cNo one is saying you can\u2019t celebrate the way you choose, or with the people you prefer to be around,\u201d Rowe replied. \u201cI\u2019m just saying that organized celebrations sponsored by an Ivy League institution that revolve around the color of a person\u2019s skin are so\u20261960\u2026\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Another wrote, \u201cMike, You\u2019ve never been made to feel like an outsider based on your inherent identity and it shows glaringly. You\u2019ve always been on the inside and at the very top of our society\u2019s multi-tiered pyramid that has masculine, heterosexual, white, cis-gender men in charge of most things\u2026.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Rowe replied, \u201cI\u2019m not responsible for the way other people treat other people. I\u2019m only responsible for the way I treat other people. And I choose to treat other people as if their color and ethnicity don\u2019t matter\u2026I\u2019ll continue to do my best to ignore the things that don\u2019t matter, and celebrate the things that do.
