Iowa AG Brenna Bird hailed the pause as\u200d a victory, criticizing the rule\u200c as extremist. The SEC informed the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals about the \u2064halt while defending the rule&#8217;s validity in court. The\u2062 SEC\u200b delayed\u2064 enforcing a climate rule\u200d that required specific companies to reveal greenhouse gas emissions due to\u2064 opposition from Republican-led states. Iowa AG Brenna Bird celebrated the postponement as a win, denouncing the rule as extreme. The SEC updated the Eighth \u2062Circuit Court of Appeals about the suspension while upholding\u2062 the\u200b rule&#8217;s\u200d legality in court \u200bproceedings.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/topic\/securities-and-exchange-commission\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Securities and Exchange Commission<\/a> paused implementation of a climate rule requiring certain companies to disclose greenhouse gas emissions after a coalition of Republican-led states challenged the rule. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">On Thursday, the SEC <a href=\"https:\/\/content.govdelivery.com\/attachments\/IACIO\/2024\/04\/04\/file_attachments\/2837713\/SEC%20letter%20staying%20climate%20rule.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">alerted<\/a> the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals that it would hold off finalizing the climate rule while it faced a lawsuit from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/pistol-brace-owners-scramble-to-block-atf-ban-set-to-take-effect-june-1\/\" title=\"Pistol brace owners rush to stop ATF ban starting June 1.\">25 states led<\/a> by Iowa. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/biden-justice-dept-asks-supreme-court-to-save-obamacare\/\" title=\"Biden Justice Dept. Asks Supreme Court to Save Obamacare\">states argue<\/a> that the SEC has overstepped its authority by attempting to put in place the climate rule without congressional approval. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cToday\u2019s victory shuts down the most outrageous <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/progressives-push-biden-to-include-10-trillion-climate-plan-in-infrastructure-package\/\" title=\"Progressives Push Biden to Include  Trillion Climate Plan in Infrastructure Package\">climate mandate<\/a> for businesses since Biden took office,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/content.govdelivery.com\/accounts\/IACIO\/bulletins\/3947929\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said<\/a> Iowa Attorney General Brenna Bird. \u201cThe SEC\u2019s job is to protect people from fraud. It has no business slapping companies with extremist climate mandates. We are making it clear that Biden has to follow the law like everyone else.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cBy halting this mandate, we are <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/biden-points-finger-at-delta-variant-after-underwhelming-jobs-report\/\" title=\"Biden Points Finger At Delta Variant After Underwhelming Jobs Report\">protecting business<\/a> from costly red tape, securing our supply chain, and defending family farms,\u201d she added. \u201cNext, we are going to make this win permanent!\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">In a Thursday filing, the SEC <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/content.govdelivery.com\/attachments\/IACIO\/2024\/04\/04\/file_attachments\/2837713\/SEC%20letter%20staying%20climate%20rule.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">told<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">  the Eight Circuit, which is reviewing challenges to the rule, that \u201cthat the Final Rules are stayed pending completion of judicial review of the consolidated Eighth Circuit petitions.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cIn issuing a stay, the Commission is not departing from its view that the Final Rules are consistent with applicable law and within the Commission\u2019s long-standing authority to require the disclosure of information important to investors in making investment and voting decision,\u201d the SEC said in a court filing. \u201cThus, the Commission will continue vigorously defending the Final Rules\u2019 validity in court and looks forward to expeditious resolution of the litigation.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">In addition to forcing companies to report greenhouse gas emissions, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.federalregister.gov\/documents\/2024\/03\/28\/2024-05137\/the-enhancement-and-standardization-of-climate-related-disclosures-for-investors\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">rule<\/a> would also ask businesses to report on so-called \u201cclimate risks.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n<p><b><a href=\"https:\/\/onelink.to\/dwapp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" aria-describedby=\"sk-tooltip-9096\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/onelink.to\/dwapp&#038;source=gmail&#038;ust=1702741302552000&#038;usg=AOvVaw0j7iIgqNi0bR5AgQ4rgPM4\">CLICK HERE TO GET THE DAILYWIRE+ APP<\/a><\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">This decision follows a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/u-s-appeals-court-temporarily-halts-sec-climate-disclosure-rules-456f2f4c\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">move<\/a> last month by the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals to temporarily block the rule. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">While a host of states filed challenges to the rule, which was proposed in, Iowa was chosen to be the lead challenger. Other states included in the challenge were Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, West Virginia, and Wyoming.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cBiden\u2019s radical climate mandate is the most outrageous act of overreach we\u2019ve seen from the Securities and Exchange Commission since Biden took office,\u201d Bird <a href=\"https:\/\/www.iowaattorneygeneral.gov\/newsroom\/attorney-general-bird-to-lead-nationwide-lawsuit-against-biden-greenhouse-gas-disclosure-mandate\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said<\/a> after Iowa was named the lead for the case. \u201cHis climate mandate will only saddle businesses with costly red tape, threaten our supply chain, and devastate Iowa family farms.
