Rebecca\u200d Lavrenz, a 71-year-old great-grandmother, has been found guilty of four counts for \u200ca brief entry \u2063into \u2064the\u200c Capitol on \u200cJan. 6, 2021. This case has ignited \u2063debate over the \u2063level of punishment for her actions during the Capitol breach.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<div>\n<div>\n<figure>                         <\/figure>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>After being strung up on charges by President Joe Biden\u2019s Department of Justice (DOJ), a <a href=\"https:\/\/gazette.com\/news\/crime\/verdict-colorado-springs-area-resident-found-guilty-on-all-charges-in-capitol-breach-trial-in\/article_41e439fe-f0fc-11ee-9887-4fc0904851b5.html#:~:text=The%2071%2Dyear%2Dold%20great,%24200%2C000%2C%20which%20excludes%20legal%20fees.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">71-year-old great-grandmother<\/a> may be thrown in jail because she walked around the Capitol for a few minutes on Jan. 6, 2021. <\/p>\n<p>Rebecca Lavrenz was convicted on four counts Thursday after just three days of jury deliberation for entering the Capitol on J6. Lavrenz entered the building through an open door around 2:43 p.m., according to the official <a href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/usao-dc\/defendants\/lavrenz-rebecca\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">statement of facts<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>Lavrenz told <a href=\"https:\/\/spectator.org\/after-three-days-of-deliberation-jan-6-jury-convicts-great-grandmother-rebecca-lavrenz\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">The American Spectator<\/a>\u2018s Jack Cashill that she \u201cfelt that if those doors [on the east side of the building] opened I was supposed to go through.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Lavrenz exited the Capitol around 2:53 p.m., just 10 minutes after entering, having briefly spoken to at least one Capitol Police Officer before leaving, according to the statement of facts. <\/p>\n<p>Two FBI agents showed up on April 19, 2021, to Lavrenz\u2019s home in Colorado. Lavrenz told the agents she was in the middle of baking a cake for her son and asked if they could return at a different time, according to The American Spectator. The agents returned one week later for a \u201cconsensual interview,\u201d according to the statement of facts. <\/p>\n<p>After months of investigation, agents reportedly told Lavrenz she should be grateful the weaponized agency would only charge the self-described \u201cpraying great-grandmother\u201d with four misdemeanor charges for entering a building her tax dollars pay for. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cGlad?\u201d Lavrenz reportedly <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.is\/bLQLb#selection-1681.2-1689.11\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">said<\/a>. \u201cI shouldn\u2019t be charged with anything.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Lavrenz was charged with entering and remaining in a restricted building or grounds; disorderly conduct and disruptive conduct in a restricted building or grounds; disorderly conduct in a capitol; and parading, demonstrating, or picketing in a capitol, according to the criminal complaint. <\/p>\n<p>According to the Colorado Springs Gazette, Lavrenz could <a href=\"https:\/\/gazette.com\/news\/crime\/verdict-colorado-springs-area-resident-found-guilty-on-all-charges-in-capitol-breach-trial-in\/article_41e439fe-f0fc-11ee-9887-4fc0904851b5.html#:~:text=The%2071%2Dyear%2Dold%20great,%24200%2C000%2C%20which%20excludes%20legal%20fees.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">face<\/a> up to a year in prison and fines of over $200,000, not including legal fees.<\/p>\n<p><strong>[READ:[READ:<a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/02\/01\/j6-committee-admits-its-show-trials-were-an-election-year-publicity-stunt\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">J6 Committee Admits Its Show Trials Were An Election-Year Publicity Stunt<\/a>]<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy country is treating me like a criminal because I believe that they stole my rightful president,\u201d Lavrenz said in an emotional video posted to social media. \u201cAnd just standing up for my country makes me a criminal and it\u2019s not right, it feels so weird to be here.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure>\n<p><span><\/p>\n<blockquote data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<div lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">\n<p>JUST IN: &#8216;Praying grandma&#8217; Rebecca Lavrenz has reportedly been found guilty by a DC jury after she briefly entered the Capitol on J6.<\/p>\n<p>Glad to see our &#8216;justice system&#8217; going after some &#8220;hard-hitting criminals.&#8221; <\/p>\n<p>Lavrenz spent 10 minutes inside the Capitol and was seen praying\u2026 <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/gNhmczA6nA\">pic.twitter.com\/gNhmczA6nA<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u2014 Collin Rugg (@CollinRugg) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/CollinRugg\/status\/1775996709371568161?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">April 4, 2024<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><\/span> <\/p>\n<\/figure>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/12\/15\/meet-the-j6-defendant-standing-up-against-a-doj-bent-on-collecting-heads\/\">Stewart Parks<\/a>, who was sentenced to eight months in prison after being convicted of the same charges as Lavrenz along with theft of government property after he picked up a metal detector wand and walked around with it for a period of time, said on \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.iheart.com\/podcast\/139-vicki-mckenna-27246267\/episode\/the-vicki-mckenna-show-grime-131248589\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">The Vicki McKenna Show<\/a>\u201d that the Biden administration is trying to send a message that the so-called wrong kind of political <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/01\/18\/this-j6-defendant-spent-3-years-in-jail-for-what-the-supreme-court-might-say-isnt-a-crime\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">protests<\/a> won\u2019t be tolerated.  <\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf you think about it, my house was raided and I was arrested on June 2, 2021, so I\u2019ve been on a form of probation since that day,\u201d Parks said. \u201cI could have had four or five years if they had done it consecutively. These punishments are just way too harsh for a crime that wasn\u2019t committed.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The left has <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/11\/20\/more-released-j6-tapes-show-police-escorting-and-fist-bumping-protesters-at-the-capitol\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">tried to portray<\/a> Jan. 6 as a \u201cviolent insurrection\u201d despite video footage and witness testimony contradicting the narrative.
