Now James is questioning the bond, as the insurer that underwrote the bond, California-based Knight Specialty Insurance Company, is not regulated by New York. <\/p>\n<p>James filed a \u201cnotice of exception to the sufficiency of the surety\u201d to seek additional information from Trump about the insurance company. The hearing is set for April 22. <\/p>\n<p>The challenge does not <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/world\/us\/hearing-over-trumps-175-million-bond-ny-civil-fraud-case-set-april-22-2024-04-04\/#:~:text=NEW%20YORK%2C%20April%204%20(Reuters,more%20details%20about%20the%20bond\">harm<\/a> Trump\u2019s bond but makes it so that the insurance company will need to show proof that they can pay it. According to court filings, Knight Specialty Insurance Company has $539 million in assets, including $26.8 million in cash.
