Rep. Andy Kim secured this win, with concerns initially raised over the decision&#8217;s timing during\u2062 the election cycle. \u200cMercer\u200b County Clerk\u200d acknowledged the impact on ballot preparation, while Camden County\u200d Democrats continue their appeal. The county clerks who challenged Judge Quraishi&#8217;s ruling on the &#8220;county line&#8221; in New Jersey&#8217;s Democratic\u2063 primary have now\u2063 retracted\u200d their appeals. Rep.\u2063 Andy Kim&#8217;s success was influenced \u200dby concerns about the decision&#8217;s timing in the election \u200bperiod. Mercer County Clerk \u200drecognized the effect on ballot preparation,\u2062 while Camden County Democrats are pursuing \u2062their appeal.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Every county clerk who appealed U.S. District Judge Zahid Quraishi\u2019s decision to overturn the \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/campaigns\/2922949\/push-to-abolish-new-jersey-county-line-ballot\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>county line<\/a>\u201d in New Jersey\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/campaigns\/2947881\/new-jersey-judge-removes-county-line-democratic-primary-ballots-gop-open\/\">Democratic primary<\/a> has taken back their appeal in another win for Rep. Andy Kim (D-NJ).<\/p>\n<p>The majority of the county clerks named in Kim\u2019s lawsuit originally appealed the judge\u2019s decision, citing concerns about its timing during the election cycle. However, on Thursday, all the county clerks involved have withdrawn their opposition.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs I have stated previously, this appeal was about the timing of the federal court\u2019s decision and the immediate impact on ballot preparation and the election process,\u201d Mercer County Clerk Paula Sollami Covello said in a statement. \u201cThe denial of a stay means that the ballot design and drawing of candidate positions will proceed as ordered by the Court. At this time, my office will move forward in preparing ballots for mailing for the upcoming NJ primary election.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/danieljhan_\/status\/1775997095008158092\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Camden County Democrats<\/a>, however, are still moving forward with the appeal.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSomething incredible just happened. Every NJ county has formally or publicly indicated they will drop their opposition to the court order for fair office block ballots,\u201d Kim <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/AndyKimNJ\/status\/1776010781298966917\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>posted on X<\/a>. \u201cCamden County Dem Committee is now alone in continuing to appeal. Our team is ready to keep fighting to protect our democracy. Whatever it takes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Camden County was originally at the center of controversy in the Garden State after they did not allow Kim, or Patricia Campos-Medina, another candidate in the U.S. Senate race to unseat indicted Sen. Bob Menendez (D-NJ), to enter the convention. Camden County had already endorsed New Jersey first lady Tammy Murphy in the race before her exit. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s tough enough to be a woman in NJ politics with its history of harassment and intimidation, but to be confronted by five men who did not have any IDs or credentials to stop me at the Camden County Democrats Committee meeting is bullying and harassment and is unacceptable behavior,\u201d Campos-Medina <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/Patricia4NJ\/status\/1769806607351677170\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>said<\/a>. <\/p>\n<figure><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cWhen Patricia shows up and is right there at the building, how do you not let a Senate candidate into the building to just at least be able to say a few words?\u201d Kim said, adding that he was also rejected from entering the meeting. <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/washingtonexaminer.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title><strong>CLICK HERE TO READ MORE FROM THE WASHINGTON EXAMINER<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Quraishi\u2019s decision only applies to this year\u2019s Democratic primary, but Republicans are free to redesign their ballots. Last month, he ruled <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/campaigns\/2945341\/judge-grants-permission-toss-new-jerseys-county-line-in-election\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>in favor<\/a> of Kim\u2019s lawsuit against 19 county clerks who used the line, granting a preliminary injunction to remove it on this year\u2019s ballot. <\/p>\n<p>The county line historically gave well-connected New Jerseyans up to a 38-point advantage in elections as it placed party-backed candidates together on the ballot.
