Among the four co-sponsors are Reps. Mary Miller (R-IL) and Ronny Jackson (R-TX).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOriginally the country didn\u2019t have an income tax,\u201d Davidson <a href=\"https:\/\/justthenews.com\/government\/congress\/hdohio-congressman-introduces-bill-repeal-16th-amendment-arguing-government\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"told\">told<\/a> the show hosts. \u201cThey passed the 16th Amendment to make it legal to tax people\u2019s income. It was originally just going to be for the really, really rich people. And of course, now it\u2019s hitting everybody.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Davidson originally introduced the legislation last year, though the lower chamber has not voted on the repeal. He said he would \u201clove to get a vote on it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIncome taxes are definitely not necessary,\u201d Davidson <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/WarrenDavidson\/status\/1731484839923126462\">wrote<\/a> in an X post. \u201cThey are neither efficient nor effective at collecting tax revenue. They are, however, powerful for surveillance and control.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Ohio congressman serves on the House Foreign Affairs Committee and the Financial Services Committee.
