Ruben Gallego\u2019s (D-AZ) <\/a>campaign released the second television ad of his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/senate\/\">Senate<\/a> run on Thursday acknowledging economic concerns voters are facing, days after <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/2950687\/gallego-doubles-quarterly-fundraising-sinema-arizona-senate-race\/\">announcing<\/a> a major fundraising haul during the first three months of the year.  <\/p>\n<p>The campaign said they are spending over $1 million on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=Nu0TKNu9J1w\">30-second ad<\/a> titled \u201cBreathe Easier,\u201d which will air on television across the Phoenix and Tucson markets and digitally beginning on Thursday.<\/p>\n<figure>\n<div>\n<p data-video_id=\"Nu0TKNu9J1w\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Breathe Easier\" width=\"696\" height=\"392\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Nu0TKNu9J1w?feature=oembed&#038;enablejsapi=1\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p>In the ad, Gallego reflects on his childhood and the current economic situation, emphasizing he knows what it\u2019s like for families living paycheck to paycheck. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cGrowing up, I watched my single mom work so hard to raise me and my three sisters on a secretary\u2019s pay, so I know how hard you\u2019re working,\u201d Gallego says, as childhood photos of himself and his family are shown. \u201cBut, your wages just haven\u2019t kept up with costs and that\u2019s not your fault.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Arizona Democratic Congressman, who was first elected in 2014, then reflects on his accomplishments in Congress and his goals in the future. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat\u2019s why in Congress I fought to lower the cost of prescriptions by holding pharmaceutical companies accountable,\u201d Gallego says in the ad. \u201cIn the Senate, I\u2019ll keep fighting big corporations so hardworking Arizonans can breathe a little easier.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.noblepredictiveinsights.com\/post\/arizona-s-electorate-allergic-to-maga-brand-in-2024-us-senate-race?utm_campaign=AZPOP&#038;utm_medium=email&#038;_hsmi=295168871&#038;_hsenc=p2ANqtz-9gTJAyLAykzpxG17mciGJ2GQXoUZKeRoQfrNZpn7HMDwvklbLADJz1Jol4apxFMvqUjp0MSNt1JvqrGzj7dF-jgcs2vZ2dwR1f4GiWTrjlItV-FdM&#038;utm_content=295168871&#038;utm_source=hs_email\">Recent polling analysis<\/a> shows that Gallego has low name recognition in the state. Advertisements released by his team have attempted to introduce the Arizona Democrat to voters ahead of the November election. <\/p>\n<p>Last month, Gallego\u2019s campaign <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/2916288\/ruben-gallego-first-senate-ad-arizona\/\">released his first ad<\/a>, a one-minute spot with the title, \u201cLucky Lima,\u201d in which the congressman reflected on his military service as a U.S. Marine.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier in the week, Gallego\u2019s campaign announced it raised $7.5 million in the first three months of the year, more than doubling his prior quarterly filings after incumbent <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/kyrsten-sinema\/\">Sen. Kyrsten Sinema<\/a> (I-AZ) <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/2812364\/kyrsten-sinema-no-2024-reelection-senate\/\">decided against running<\/a> for reelection last month. <\/p>\n<p>So far this cycle, the Arizona Congressman has raised about $20.5 million, according to campaign finance records, making him one of the Democratic party\u2019s most prolific fundraisers behind incumbent vulnerable Sens. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) and Jon Tester (D-MT).<\/p>\n<p>The Arizona Democratic congressman is likely to face <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/kari-lake\/\">Kari Lake<\/a>, the front-running Republican candidate, in a race considered a toss-up by the Cook Political Report. Gallego is among the first Senate candidates to unveil his first-quarter fundraising total for 2024. Lake has yet to announce hers.  <\/p>\n<p>The former TV anchor and gubernatorial candidate raised $2.1 million in the fourth fundraising quarter of 2023. Earlier this week, Lake <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/campaigns\/2951553\/kari-lake-raises-haul-mar-a-lago-fundraiser\/\">raised<\/a> $1 million at a fundraising event at former President Donald Trump\u2019s Mar-a-Lago resort, according to sources familiar. <\/p>\n<p>Polling shows a close contest between Gallego and Lake,\u00a0 but the most recent surveys indicate Gallego has an edge over Lake in the critical swing state. Gallego leads Lake by 8 percentage points, 36% to 28%, according to a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rabaresearch.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/RABA-Arizona-Survey.pdf\">recent poll by RABA Research<\/a>.
