This prospect has elicited concern among Republicans who worry about the repercussions on Johnson&#8217;s leadership \u200crole.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<div>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/house-democrats\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"House Democrats\">House Democrats<\/a> have floated coming to House Speaker <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/mike-johnson\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"Mike Johnson's\">Mike Johnson\u2019s<\/a> (R-LA) rescue in the event of a vote to oust him, something that risks jeopardizing his speakership even more.<\/p>\n<p>In February, House Minority Leader <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/hakeem-jeffries\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"Hakeem Jeffries\">Hakeem Jeffries<\/a> (D-NY) said he believed \u201ca reasonable number\u201d of Democrats would vote to keep Johnson as House speaker if hard-liners in the Republican Party turned against him over matters such as Ukraine aid. (AP Photo\/Mark Schiefelbein)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cI can tell you this for sure:\u00a0If there is a motion and Democrats jump in to support Johnson, that greatly diminishes him because then he\u2019ll immediately become the \u2018uniparty\u2019 speaker,\u201d a senior House Republican aligned with Johnson told <em>Politico<\/em>. \u201cEverything would be run on suspension because people would take down rules \u2014 or they\u2019ll do continuous motions to vacate.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, the outlet reported that many Republicans are privately admitting it\u2019s unlikely they\u2019ll keep their House majority next election, a loss that would almost certainly force Johnson out if he\u2019s still in the position by then.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat\u2019s he going to say?<strong> <\/strong>\u2018Oh, shucks, guys \u2026 I ran everything through suspension and lost the majority, and I still want to be your leader\u2019? That\u2019s not going to be tolerated,\u201d the senior Republican said.<\/p>\n<p>Johnson appears safe for the immediate future, as no Republicans, even fellow firebrands such as Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL), are backing Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene\u2019s (R-GA) motion to vacate the speakership.
