California State Bar Judge Yvette\u200b Roland found Eastman guilty\u200d of 10 out of 11 charges, pending the final verdict \u200dof\u2062 the California Supreme Court. Eastman argues the disbarment\u2062 could hinder his ability\u200c to support himself given potential legal costs exceeding $3\u200c million.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Former President <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/donald-trump\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Donald Trump\u2019s<\/a> 2020 election campaign lawyer <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/justice\/2942349\/judge-rules-ex-trump-lawyer-john-eastman-should-be-disbarred-over-efforts-overturn-2020-election\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>John Eastman<\/a> asked a judge to pause his disbarment so he can maintain working as an attorney, citing \u201clegal fees\u201d he\u2019s incurred for being indicted in a separate criminal case.<\/p>\n<p>State Bar Court of California Judge Yvette Roland last week <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/justice\/2942349\/judge-rules-ex-trump-lawyer-john-eastman-should-be-disbarred-over-efforts-overturn-2020-election\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>found<\/a> Eastman culpable for 10 of the 11 disciplinary charges levied against him in a lengthy decision in which the California Supreme Court will issue a final verdict. Hong, File)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cIf the Order placing Dr. Eastman on inactive enrollment is not stayed, not only would it be highly prejudicial to Dr. Eastman, it would also be highly prejudicial to his clients,\u201d Eastman\u2019s attorney Randall Miller wrote in a motion Wednesday evening.<\/p>\n<p>Attached to the motion were six declarations by Eastman\u2019s current clients, including Reps. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) and Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), saying that Eastman has been working with them on a number of matters, including their \u201ccampaign committee\u201d and \u201cjoint fundraising committee.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe time and energy he has already expended in preparing the case, obtaining documentation via public records requests, and defending against multiple motions to dismiss strongly favor his continued representation in the matter,\u201d both Republican lawmakers wrote in their separate declarations.<\/p>\n<p>Gaetz also wrote that the \u201cvarious charges and allegations against Dr. Eastman are meritless and politically motivated\u201d and that the judge\u2019s decision should be reversed. <\/p>\n<p>Although the former Trump campaign attorney is also licensed to practice law in Washington, D.C., his request cited additional clients who are residents of the state of California.<\/p>\n<p>According to the State Bar of California database, Eastman\u2019s name <a href=\"https:\/\/apps.calbar.ca.gov\/attorney\/Licensee\/Detail\/193726\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"reads in bold letters\">reads in bold letters<\/a>: \u201cNot Eligible to Practice Law.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Eastman, a former Chapman University law school dean, faced 11 counts of ethical and legal violations for his post-2020 election activities ahead of the Jan. 6 Capitol attack.
