Led by House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer, the probe aimed to unveil alleged wrongdoing by the Biden family but lacked\u2064 substantial evidence. Republicans are now\u200c exploring other tactics to challenge the administration as \u2063the pressure mounts\u200d for results during a crucial election year, focusing on\u200c energy policies and COVID-19 origins.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<div>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/house-republicans\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"House Republicans\">House Republicans<\/a> are pivoting to new lines of attack against the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/joe-biden\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"Biden\">Biden<\/a> administration after an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/impeachment\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"impeachment\">impeachment<\/a> inquiry into the president sputtered out. <\/p>\n<p>Republicans launched the impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden last year to expose what House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-KY) said were crimes committed by the Biden family. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/house\/2943606\/comer-invites-joe-biden-to-testify-on-familys-pay-for-influence-schemes\/\" title=\"inquiry\">inquiry<\/a> has lasted more than six months and included hours of testimony. Still, Republicans have been wary about holding an impeachment vote due to a lack of sufficient evidence of Biden\u2019s alleged criminal activities.  <\/p>\n<p>Now, they are turning to other strategies to derail the Biden administration during a critical election year as pressure mounts on the GOP to yield results. In March, the House Republican committee chairs sent about 50 oversight requests from committees to other departments, including the Justice and Energy departments, a source familiar with the requests <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/2024\/04\/03\/house-gop-impeachment-biden-00150266\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>told<\/a> <em>Politico<\/em>. <\/p>\n<p>Republicans are also reportedly going after the Biden administration\u2019s energy policies and the origins of COVID-19. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cSince January 2023, we\u2019ve launched investigations into President Biden\u2019s border crisis, energy crisis, federal pandemic spending, federal agency telework policies, abuse of power at the FTC, the Bidens\u2019 corrupt influence peddling schemes, the federal government\u2019s efforts to combat CCP influence, and more,\u201d Comer said. <\/p>\n<p>Republicans\u2019 attempt to home in on China will specifically spotlight the Biden administration\u2019s open border policies that have allowed China, the largest source of chemicals used to make fentanyl, to smuggle the deadly drug through the U.S.-Mexico border.
