Please, make it a promise, Pete. <\/p>\n<p>But Buttigieg won\u2019t. He\u2019s like all of the Trump-hating Hollywood glitterati who <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/lists\/20-stars-who-pledged-flee-country-trump-was-elected-are-they-945888\/ne-yo-2\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">threatened<\/a> to leave America upon the election of Donald Trump. Chelsea Handler, Snoop Dogg, Miley Cyrus, Bryan Cranston, Samuel L. Jackson, Lena Dunham, Cher, Whoopi Goldberg \u2014 sadly, they are still here. <\/p>\n<p>Just like Mayor Pete isn\u2019t likely to bow out of politics even after his disastrous tenure as the nation\u2019s transportation chief comes to an end. He\u2019s too much of a political climber. Talent and ambition don\u2019t always go together. <\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-cce10b8eac28b18b5cdd6d217b6ca648 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-10\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-cce10b8eac28b18b5cdd6d217b6ca648\"><\/div>\n<p>There wasn\u2019t much on Buttigieg\u2019s political resume before his run for president that qualified him for that job. There are many things on his record as transportation secretary, however, that should to voters disqualify him from holding elected office again. <\/p>\n<p>A story a little over a year ago in the left-leaning Independent incredibly asked, \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.the-independent.com\/news\/world\/americas\/us-politics\/pete-buttigieg-ohio-train-derailment-transport-secretary-b2293616.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Is Pete Buttigieg the best \u2014 or worst \u2014 transportation secretary in history?<\/a>\u201d Oh, he\u2019s the worst. Unless there\u2019s some psychopath arsonist transportation chief in Romania who literally burned bridges I\u2019m unaware of (Not talking about you, <a href=\"https:\/\/gov.ro\/fisiere\/ministri_fisiere\/23-06-27-01-51-30CV_-_Sorin-Mihai_GRINDEANU.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Sorin-Mihai Grindeanu,<\/a> Romania\u2019s minister of transport and infrastructure. You\u2019re doing a heckuva job, Grindy!).<\/p>\n<p>Just ask the folks in East Palestine, Ohio. It took Buttigieg two and a half weeks to amble his way to the village living under a toxic cloud rising from a massive train derailment. When he got there, Buttigieg defended his \u201chard-working\u201d president and blamed Trump for the cataclysmic event. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn President Joe Biden\u2019s America, the people of East Palestine were\u00a0left scrambling in the dark, with, until Thursday, an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/pete-buttigieg-faces-call-resign-east-palestine-disaster\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">absentee Transportation secretary<\/a>, a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/media\/ohio-mom-blasts-biden-epa-official-defending-train-derailment-response-forgotten-about\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">struggling Environmental Protection Agency<\/a> and industry representatives who won\u2019t <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/world-us-canada-64659795\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">answer basic questions<\/a>,\u201d U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., wrote in a Feb. 23, 2023 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/story\/opinion\/2023\/02\/23\/east-palestine-ohio-train-derailment-pete-buttigieg-failure\/11329841002\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">op-ed.<\/a> <\/p>\n<p>Rubio echoed the refrain of East Palestine residents and their fellow Americans: \u201cWhere\u2019s Pete?\u201d <\/p>\n<p>The answer to that question, at times, has been paternity leave. <\/p>\n<p>In autumn 2021, as the nation faced a <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2021\/10\/17\/buttigieg-defends-being-on-paternity-leave-amid-supply-chain-crisis\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">debilitating supply-chain crisis<\/a> and the Democrat-led Congress was hammering out a trillion-dollar \u201cinfrastructure\u201d package, Buttigieg took two months off to spend with his husband, Chasten, and their newborn adopted twins.  <\/p>\n<p>\u201cUnfortunately, the Secretary is currently on leave due to the birth of his twins, and that may lead to a delay in possibly scheduling in the future,\u201d an unnamed staffer at the Transportation Department wrote in turning down a meeting with U.S. Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, The Federalist\u2019s Tristan Justice <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/01\/17\/chasten-buttigieg-says-its-old-news-to-cover-petes-lengthy-paternity-leave-after-dot-concealed-it-for-a-year\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reported.<\/a> <\/p>\n<p>\u201cPete is the only person in human history to have a child and everyone else gets postpartum depression,\u201d former Vice President Mike Pence <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/21638\/pence-team-responds-to-calls-for-apologies-over-buttigieg-paternity-leave-comments\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">quipped<\/a> last year on the presidential campaign trail. Pence was blasted by the left as a homophobe for telling journalists and politicians at the annual Gridiron Dinner that the transportation secretary took \u201cmaternity leave\u201d and \u201cthousands of travelers were stranded in airports, the air traffic system shut down, and airplanes nearly collided on our runways.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Pence wasn\u2019t wrong. <\/p>\n<p>When the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore collapsed last week, Pete was Johnny on the spot. His pals in the corporate media wanted the world to know that Buttigieg wasn\u2019t bungling the response this time. Politico <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/2024\/03\/27\/buttigieg-baltimore-bridge-collapse-00149403\">published<\/a> a PR piece about the secretary\u2019s fast response, pounding home the point that Buttigieg\u2019s work cell phone was buzzing \u201cnot long after the bridge collapsed at 1:30 a.m.\u201d Whether he picked up right away, well, the piece doesn\u2019t specify. <\/p>\n<p>I wouldn\u2019t be surprised if the call came from the same sycophantic reporters who have given the incompetent Buttigieg a sweeping pass for his dutiful role as ambassador of identity politics. I imagine the phone conversation going something like this: <em>Say, uh, Pete. Did you know a bridge in Baltimore has gone down? You\u2019d probably better head over there, or at least send out a statement or something. This isn\u2019t like East Palestine. Nobody in Baltimore votes for Trump. <\/em><\/p>\n<p>Dealing with his job, Buttigieg told \u201cFace the Nation,\u201d is hard and rewarding. He says it\u2019s \u201ctaken about 110 percent\u201d of what he has to give right now. <\/p>\n<p>If what Buttigieg is giving is \u201c110 percent,\u201d I\u2019d hate to see coasting. A dreadful thought as I prepare to fly in the coming weeks. <\/p>\n<p>If mercy be not strained, the long national nightmare of Joe Biden and his lousy transportation chief will soon come to an end. After all of that \u201cwork\u201d of watching Biden sleepwalk through the last three years, Mayor Pete will definitely need a rest before he storms back into politics like a gay <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nixonfoundation.org\/2017\/11\/55-years-ago-last-press-conference\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Dick Nixon<\/a> \u2014 after they don\u2019t have Pete Buttigieg to kick around anymore.  <\/p>\n<p>Too bad he won\u2019t be able to take that generous paternity leave plan with him. <\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-cd80398cfc19d05ca4d8284f733409c0 fdrlst__b89e9-after-post-content\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-cd80398cfc19d05ca4d8284f733409c0\"><\/div>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\">    \t\t\t\t\t   \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n<p><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Oh, Pete, say it isn&#8217;t so!
