Determined to combat the cancer, he expressed confidence in his\u2062 treatment plan. Despite not specifying\u2063 the cancer type, he assured his constituents of continued service as he battles the disease, emphasizing his commitment \u2064to representing \u200dArizona \u2062diligently \u2062amid a\u200b slender House majority.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<p>The top Democrat on the <a href=\"https:\/\/naturalresources.house.gov\/about\/members.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">House Natural Resources Committee<\/a>, Rep. Raul Grijalva (D-AZ), announced on Tuesday that he has been diagnosed with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/topic\/cancer\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">cancer<\/a> and is undergoing treatment.<\/p>\n<p>Grijalva, <a href=\"https:\/\/ktar.com\/story\/5568863\/arizona-democratic-u-s-rep-raul-grijalva-announces-that-hes-being-treated-for-cancer\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">who is 76<\/a>, said in a <a href=\"https:\/\/grijalva.house.gov\/rep-grijalva-statement-on-cancer-diagnosis\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">statement<\/a> that he sought medical treatment a few weeks ago for a \u201cpersistent cough which was initially diagnosed as pneumonia\u201d that further testing and imaging revealed to be cancer.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis diagnosis has been difficult to process, but I am confident in the vigorous course of treatment that my medical team has developed, and I\u2019ve begun my journey to fight this cancer,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Grijalva did not disclose what kind of cancer he is dealing with but did state that his office remains open so that services will continue to be provided to his constituents.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am in regular communication with my staff and I continue to work as I undergo treatment. It is a privilege to serve as a Representative for the people of Arizona and I take this responsibility very seriously,\u201d the congressman added.<\/p>\n<p>The announcement comes as the party split in the GOP-led House has become extremely slim. Members of both parties have retired early or, in the case of Rep. George Santos (R-NY), been <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/slim-house-gop-majority-takes-a-hit-with-dem-winning-contest-to-replace-santos\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">expelled and replaced by a Democrat<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Well-wishers responded to news of Grijalva\u2019s diagnosis on social media.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy thoughts &#038; prayers are with [Grijalva] and his family during this difficult time,\u201d Rep.
