Rowling published a series of stories about biological men who identify as women engaged in sexual criminal activity or holding female roles at lead institutions and female sports leagues.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn passing the Scottish Hate Crime Act, Scottish lawmakers seem to have placed higher value on the feelings of men performing their idea of femaleness, however misogynistically or opportunistically, than on the rights and freedoms of actual women and girls,\u201d Rowling <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/jk_rowling\/status\/1774749954629652873?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">wrote<\/a>. <\/p>\n<figure>\n<p><span><\/p>\n<blockquote data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">But most women aren\u2019t axe-toters or sex offenders, so let\u2019s talk role models! Rowling (@jk_rowling) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/jk_rowling\/status\/1774749130981597634?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">April 1, 2024<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><\/span> <\/p>\n<\/figure>\n<p>The new law, enacted in 2021 and implemented Monday, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.legislation.gov.uk\/asp\/2021\/14\/part\/3\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">criminalizes<\/a> acts \u201cstirring up hatred.\u201d Perpetrators under the law can be convicted if found to behave \u201cin a manner that a reasonable person would consider to be threatening, abusive or insulting.\u201d Local police are given broad discretion to enforce the law, with apparent victims given deference to press charges. Those convicted may face a fine and up to 7 years in prison. Rowling taunted authorities to enforce the law as written Monday with her online posts routinely condemned by leftists as \u201chate speech.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Two years ago, for example, the U.K. Parliament <a href=\"https:\/\/petition.parliament.uk\/petitions\/620221\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">rejected a petition<\/a> to make \u201cdeliberately misgendering\u201d someone a \u201chate crime\u201d on the basis that \u201cThe act of deliberately mis-gendering someone is already a hate crime.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Rowling warned the new Scottish hate crime law is ripe for abuse:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>The new legislation is wide open to abuse by activists who wish to silence those of us speaking out about the dangers of eliminating women\u2019s and girls\u2019 single-sex spaces, the nonsense made of crime data if violent and sexual assaults committed by men are recorded as female crimes, the grotesque unfairness of allowing males to compete in female sports, the injustice of women\u2019s jobs, honours and opportunities being taken by trans-identified men, and the reality and immutability of biological sex.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Rowling said  she is \u201ccurrently out of the country\u201d but added, \u201cIf what I\u2019ve written here qualifies as an offence under the terms of the new act, I look forward to being arrested when I return to the birthplace of the Scottish Enlightenment.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak is backing Rowling\u2019s stand.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe should not be criminalising people saying common sense things about biological sex, clearly that isn\u2019t right,\u201d Sunak said, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/articles\/cmmqq4qv81qo\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">according<\/a> to the BBC.<\/p>\n<p>Far-left activists have <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2021\/07\/30\/j-k-rowlings-haters-are-back-proving-the-left-will-never-forgive-dissenters\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">attacked<\/a> Rowling for years over the author\u2019s public condemnations of the transgender movement erasing women\u2019s spaces, particularly in sports. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf sex isn\u2019t real, there\u2019s no same-sex attraction. If sex isn\u2019t real, the lived reality of women globally is erased,\u201d she <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/jk_rowling\/status\/1269389298664701952?lang=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">wrote<\/a> in 2020. \u201cI know and love trans people, but erasing the concept of sex removes the ability of many to meaningfully discuss their lives. It isn\u2019t hate to speak the truth.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>For this, Rowling was criticized by  <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetrevorproject.org\/2020\/06\/08\/daniel-radcliffe-responds-to-j-k-rowlings-tweets-on-gender-identity\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Daniel Radcliffe<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/EmmaWatson\/status\/1270826851070619649\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Emma Watson<\/a>, two stars of the <em>Harry Potter<\/em> film series.<\/p>\n<figure>\n<p><span><\/p>\n<blockquote data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">If sex isn\u2019t real, there\u2019s no same-sex attraction.
