Kennedy Jr.\">Donald Trump<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In an appearance on CNN\u2019s <em>Erin Burnett OutFront<\/em>, Kennedy pushed back against claims from Biden and Trump that the election of the other would result in the destruction of democracy. Despite not believing in either, he said Trump\u2019s claims had more weight to them, stating Biden was the greater threat to democracy between the two.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI can make the argument that President Biden is the much worse threat to democracy, and the reason for that is President Biden is the first candidate in history \u2014 the first president in history that has used the federal agencies to censor political speech, so to censor his opponent,\u201d Kennedy said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe\u2019s weaponizing the federal agencies. Those are really critical threats,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>Pushing in the other direction, Kennedy also gave some credence to warnings that Trump could be a danger to democracy, citing the Jan. 6 riot.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think that is a threat to democracy, [Trump] overthrowing \u2014 trying to overthrow the election clearly is a threat to democracy,\u201d he said. \u201cBut the question was, who is a worse threat to democracy? And what I would say is \u2026 I\u2019m not going to answer that question. And there\u2019s many things that President Trump has done that are appalling,\u201d Kennedy added.<\/p>\n<p>The independent presidential candidate has sought to tread a third path between the two polarizing presidential candidates, looking to take votes from Trump and Biden.
