Rep. Don Bacon (R-NE) \u200ddiscussed this during an NBC News interview\u200b after Biden was formally invited \u2063to testify before the House Oversight Committee. The House, narrowly controlled by Republicans, can only afford \u2064to\u2064 lose one or two \u200cvotes regarding potential impeachment articles.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<p>A House Republican said on Sunday that committee lawyers do not believe the\u00a0corruption-focused <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/topic\/impeachment\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">impeachment<\/a> inquiry against President <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/topic\/joe-biden\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Joe Biden<\/a> has produced sufficient evidence to show a \u201cspecific\u201d crime.<\/p>\n<p>Rep. Don Bacon (R-NE) spoke about the status of the inquiry during an interview on NBC News after Biden was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/biden-formally-invited-to-testify-for-impeachment-inquiry\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">formally invited<\/a> to testify before the House Oversight Committee, signaling that the probe is reaching a crescendo.<\/p>\n<p>The House is narrowly controlled by Republicans, and leadership can only <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/ken-buck-retiring-early-further-shrinking-gops-house-majority\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">afford to lose one or two votes<\/a> if all Democrats oppose any articles of impeachment that may be introduced in the weeks and months to come.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">WATCH: While he defends the House investigation into Pres. And he\u2019d need that for high crime or misdemeanor. Now, I think the investigation \u2014 it merited an investigation to put the facts out, let the public look at it, make a determination,\u201d Bacon said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd I think it\u2019s good to be transparent, especially \u2014 we\u2019re in an election year, so let\u2019s put the facts on the table,\u201d he added. \u201cBut when I talked to the lawyers on the committee staff, they say, at this point, there is not a specific crime that\u2019s been committed. But I do think we\u2019re probably nearing the conclusion of this investigation,\u201d Bacon said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd I think it was important for the American people to see that, yes, there\u2019s $24 million in foreign money that the family raised and all the hidden LLCs that the money was moved around in. But that is, in itself, not a high crime or misdemeanor,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>It remains unclear whether the House Republicans will ultimately introduce articles of impeachment against Biden, let alone have enough votes to pass them, but that may not be the end of the story.<\/p>\n<p>House Oversight Chairman James Comer (R-KY) recently suggested that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/comer-says-biden-impeachment-inquiry-will-lead-to-multiple-criminal-referrals\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">criminal referrals<\/a> would come out of the inquiry.<\/p>\n<p><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>During an NBC News interview, Rep.
