CEO Bill \u2063Abbott prioritizes \u2063family-centric and faith-based content, with a commitment to providing an alternative to liberal programming. Stars like Candace Cameron Bure have joined the network seeking content aligned with their values.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<div>\n<div>\n<p>As <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/tv\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"television\">television<\/a> networks battle for viewers who have seemingly endless choices of what to watch and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/streaming-video\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"stream\">stream<\/a>, one network says its success is based on basic <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/conservative\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>conservative <\/a>principles, which is paying off in a big way.<\/p>\n<p>Great American Media <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gacmedia.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"launched in 2021\">launched in 2021<\/a>. The company created cable networks Great American Family, which airs movies and series, and Great American Living, which features classic sitcoms and home improvement shows, with the goal being to provide family-friendly programming as networks such as Hallmark Channel began to take on more liberal content including<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hallmarkchannel.com\/the-holiday-sitter\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title> films focused on same-sex couples<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Great American Media CEO and President Bill Abbott confirmed in an interview with the <em>Washington Examiner<\/em> that there are no plans to include liberal messages within its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/movies\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>films<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/tv\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>television<\/a> shows, reiterating the company\u2019s commitment to promoting <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/religion\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>faith<\/a> and family.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think we are relentlessly, again, focused on being supportive of family, faith, and country,\u201d Abbott said. \u201cAnd those are principles I think that the majority, vast majority of Americans can agree on, and we will never deviate from that strategy and from really having our content focused on that uplifting, inspirational experience that people feel good about, that they can watch with their families, that they can not have to grab the remote or have their kids exposed to different things that they might not be at the level of maturity to see, so we are very relentlessly focused on it, and will never deviate.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Abbott said it\u2019s especially important to provide counter-programming as many <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/liberal\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>liberal<\/a> shows and movies often portray faith and family in a negative way. He also acknowledged that many turn to Great American Media for an escape from politics and other divisive issues. His goal is to have the channels be \u201cthat oasis in the desert\u201d amid the stress of real life, noting how the network\u2019s audience increases when the environment becomes more contentious.<\/p>\n<p>Since leaving Crown Media Family Networks, the parent company of Hallmark channel, Abbott has also brought over a number of stars from the rival, who were also looking for programming that aligned with their ideals. <\/p>\n<p>Among them is Candace Cameron Bure, who <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/1350557\/candace-cameron-bure-leaves-hallmark-for-gac-family-to-make-faith-filled-content\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"made the move in 2022\">made the move in 2022<\/a>. At the time, Bure stated that she believed that Great American Family would keep <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/2022\/11\/candace-cameron-bure-hallmark-exit-reveals-great-american-family-keep-traditional-marriage-core-not-feature-gay-couples-1235172492\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>\u201ctraditional marriage at the core.\u201d<\/a> In the months following, actor <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/2896786\/trevor-donovan-making-uplifting-movies-unites-family\/\" title=\"Trevor Donovan \">Trevor Donovan <\/a>also left Hallmark.
