Royal Caribbean doesn\u2019t have another cruise leaving from Baltimore until November of this year. There were two cruises set to sail in April, but the ships will now leave out of Norfolk, Virginia. <\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Carnival Cruise had sent out one of its ships before the collapse, which was due to return on Sunday. Instead, the cruise will end its journey in Norfolk, and guests will receive a complimentary four-hour bus ride back to Baltimore. The next cruise, slated to leave that same day, will depart from Norfolk, as will the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.carnival-news.com\/2024\/03\/26\/carnival-cruise-line-to-temporarily-move-baltimore-operations-to-norfolk-while-key-bridge-rescue-and-cleanup-efforts-continue\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"foreseeable cruise routes\">foreseeable cruise routes<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur thoughts remain with the impacted families and first responders in Baltimore,\u201d Carnival President Christine Duffy said.\u00a0\u201cWe appreciate the pledge made by President Biden today to dedicate all available resources to reopen Baltimore Harbor to marine traffic as soon as possible.\u00a0As those plans are finalized, we will update our future cruise guests on when we will return home to Baltimore, but in the meantime, we appreciate the quick response and support from officials in Norfolk.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>There is no time frame for when the port will reopen. Carnival estimated the port\u2019s closure will cost its company <a href=\"https:\/\/www.carnivalcorp.com\/news-releases\/news-release-details\/carnival-corporation-plc-reports-record-first-quarter-revenues\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"$10 million\">$10 million<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The large cargo ship lost power before it struck the bridge\u2019s support column. It was able to send a mayday distress signal, which alerted authorities to stop traffic from entering the bridge.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">CLICK HERE TO READ MORE FROM THE WASHINGTON EXAMINER<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A crew of six construction workers were on the bridge when it collapsed. Divers recovered two of the men\u2019s bodies from the river, while the others are presumed dead. The two identified were Alejandro Hernandez Fuentes, 35, from\u00a0Mexico\u00a0and Dorlian Ronial Castillo Cabrera, 26, from\u00a0Guatemala. The other workers were from Honduras and El Salvador.<\/p>\n<p>Between $100 million and $200 million worth of cargo moves through the Baltimore port every day. As a result of the bridge collapse, 10 cargo ships were temporarily stuck without a port. Now ports in Virginia are soliciting\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/2942520\/virginia-ports-get-influx-of-marine-traffic-diverted-from-baltimore\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">more traffic<\/a>\u00a0there to avoid the wreckage.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Following the collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore after a cargo ship incident, cruise ships have relocated their departure ports.
