Jon Tester (D-MT) and Sherrod Brown (D-OH) are vulnerable with House Speaker <a href=\"http:\/\/washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/mike-johnson\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Mike Johnson<\/a> (D-LA) planning to present Senate Majority Leader <a href=\"http:\/\/washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/chuck-schumer\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Chuck Schumer<\/a> (D-NY) with two articles of impeachment of Alejandro Mayorkas when <a href=\"http:\/\/washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/congress\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Congress<\/a> returns from recess.<\/p>\n<p>A vote against the articles of impeachment would anger a strong base of conservative constituents.<\/p>\n<p>Polls <a href=\"https:\/\/news.gallup.com\/poll\/611135\/immigration-surges-top-important-problem-list.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>showed<\/a> that immigration is voters\u2019 top concern this election cycle, and both Tester and Brown live in states\u00a0Trump won in 2020. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey\u2019re caught between their base and what the majority of their state wants,\u201d a Senate GOP strategist <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/senate\/4562678-gop-vulnerable-senate-democrats-defense-mayorkas-impeachment\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>told <\/a>the <em>Hill<\/em>. \u201cI would say it\u2019s the biggest threat to Sherrod Brown and Jon Tester, specifically. It\u2019s a really, really bad issue for them.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>In the House, the first attempt to impeach Mayorkas failed, but the second attempt passed with a 214-213 vote. Three House Republicans voted against the measure. <\/p>\n<p>Republican strategists are already blasting House Democrats who voted against impeaching Mayorkas. <\/p>\n<p>Strategists say while Republicans know that the articles of impeachment against Mayorkas won\u2019t get very far in the Senate, it will be just another example of Senate Democrats\u2019 lax stance on the border and cause political damage. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe impeachment is both good policy and good politics,\u201d Constantin Querard, a Republican strategist based in Arizona, told the <em>Hill<\/em>. <\/p>\n<p>Johnson, who plans to send the articles of impeachment by April 10, sent a letter to Schumer to notify him. <\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">CLICK HERE TO READ MORE FROM THE WASHINGTON EXAMINER<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf he cares about the Constitution and ending the devastation caused by Biden\u2019s border catastrophe, Sen. Schumer will quickly schedule a full public trial and hear the arguments put forth by our impeachment managers,\u201d Johnson said. <\/p>\n<p>Schumer has called the articles of impeachment \u201cabsurd\u201d and may wait until after Election Day to bring it to the Senate floor.
