The chilling photo taken by freelance photographer \u2062Ali \u2062Mahmud captured Hamas terrorists parading the body of \u200dIsraeli woman Shani Louk in Gaza. The photo was\u200b part of a winning \u200bcollection by \u2062AP in the Pictures of the Year International competition.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">A journalism institute bestowed its first-place award for \u201cTeam Picture of the Year\u201d on the Associated Press (AP) for its coverage of the Israel-Hamas war. The photo, taken by a freelance photographer, showed the horrifying image of Hamas terrorists parading a young Israeli woman\u2019s body through the streets of Gaza.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Reynolds Journalism Institute, which calls itself the world\u2019s oldest photojournalism competition, featured the photo taken by photographer Ali Mahmud \u2014who actually accompanied Hamas terrorists during the murderous October 7 massacre in which over 1200 Israelis were slain \u2014 that showed Shani Louk.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cThe grim photo featuring <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2023\/10\/11\/who-is-shani-louk-woman-who-hamas-paraded-on-a-truck\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Shani Louk\u2019s body<\/a> was among a collection of 20 images that helped the Associated Press secure first place in one of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.poy.org\/81\/14.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Pictures of the Year International<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.poy.org\/81\/14.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">award categories<\/a> earlier this month,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2024\/03\/28\/world-news\/outrage-as-photo-of-hamas-terrorists-parading-shani-louks-body-wins-top-award\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The New York Post<\/a> noted, adding, \u201cIn announcing the AP\u2019s win, the award organizers posted the unblurred image of Louk\u2019s lifeless body on its Instagram page.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Reynolds Journalism Institute <a href=\"https:\/\/poy.org\/81\/14.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">wrote<\/a>, \u201cThis premiere category recognizes the collaborative effort of a photography staff covering a single topic or news story. It is a narrative picture story that consists of images taken as part of a team effort to cover a single issue or news story.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">It <a href=\"https:\/\/poy.org\/81\/judges.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">says<\/a> of the \u201cPictures of the Year\u201d competition, \u201cPictures of the Year International selects judges who maintain the highest journalistic and ethical standards. We have confidence that these same values will apply as jurors for POYi.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cOther photos, mostly attributed to other photographers on behalf of the Associated Press, were snapped of destroyed or damaged buildings in Gaza, injured or dead Palestinians, Israelis mourning at funerals or fleeing from rocket attacks,\u201d The Jerusalem Post <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jpost.com\/israel-hamas-war\/article-794100\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reported<\/a>. \u201cHowever, many of these photos allude to photographer\u2019s previous knowledge and possible involvement of the massive attack launched on Israeli soil \u2013 in order to get the \u2018shot of a lifetime.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">In late October, Israeli President Isaac Herzog confirmed that a piece of a skull had been found with DNA that matched Louk.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cOn that day, they were in a position to take pictures of Hamas abducting innocent Israelis into Gaza,\u201d Honest Reporting <a href=\"https:\/\/honestreporting.com\/ap-wins-award-honoring-photojournalists-who-captured-hamas-atrocities-on-oct-7\/\">said<\/a> of the AP photojournalists who were with the Hamas terrorists. \u201cThey could not have done so without the passive or active agreement of terrorists on the ground.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Congratulations to <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/AP?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@AP<\/a> for winning a Pictures of the Year award.
