After Albert shared the clip, Rapinoe \u2014 who is a lesbian and staunch LGBT advocate \u2014 posted what appeared to be a response to Albert on her Instagram story without naming the young soccer player.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTo the people who want to hide behind \u2018my beliefs\u2019 I would just ask one question, are you making any time of space safer, more inclusive, more whole, any semblance of better, bringing the best out of anyone?\u201d Rapinoe wrote. \u201c\u2026 because if you aren\u2019t all you believe in is hate. Yours Truly, #15.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Some of Albert\u2019s teammates on the U.S. women\u2019s soccer team shared Rapinoe\u2019s post, including USWNT captain Becky Sauerbrunn, according to the Mail.<\/p>\n<p>Albert \u2014 who now wears #15, Rapinoe\u2019s old number, for USWNT \u2014 posted a statement on Thursday, apologizing for her \u201cactions on social media\u201d and promising \u201cto do better.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI want to sincerely apologize for my actions on social media. Liking and sharing posts that are offensive, insensitive and hurtful was immature and disrespectful which was never my intent,\u201d Albert wrote. \u201cI\u2019m really disappointed in myself and am deeply sorry for the hurt that I have caused to my teammates, other players, fans, friends and anyone who was offended.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI truly believe that everyone should feel safe and respected everywhere and on all playing fields.
