Stay tuned as their \u200cupcoming announcement is set to redefine the 2024 election landscape.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<div>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/no-labels\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">No Labels<\/a> had threatened to upend a presidential race that is shaping up to be a rematch of 2020, and still could.<\/p>\n<p>The group, promising to put together a third-party ticket that provides an alternative to President <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/joe-biden\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Joe Biden<\/a> and his predecessor, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/donald-trump\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Donald Trump<\/a>, will announce in the next couple of weeks who would make up its presidential ticket for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/2024-elections\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>November<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>But its difficulty finding star power to lead that ticket, plus slower-than-hoped-for efforts to gain ballot access in all 50 states, has presented an increasing likelihood: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/rfk-jr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Robert F. Kennedy Jr.<\/a>, the Democrat-turned-independent presidential candidate, will pose a greater challenge to the two-party standard-bearers after taking on a wealthy entrepreneur as his running mate on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>This week, former New Jersey Republican Gov. Chris Christie became the latest politician to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/campaigns\/2942514\/no-thanks-no-labels-all-the-names-who-snubbed-third-party-offers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>decide against running on a No Labels ticket<\/a>, joining other high-profile figures including Sen. Mitt Romney (R-UT), Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV), former presidential candidate Nikki Haley, and former Maryland GOP Gov. Larry Hogan.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/election-2024\/?utm_source=homepage&#038;utm_medium=banner&#038;utm_campaign=iowa_caucus&#038;utm_id=election2024\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">ELECTION 2024: FOLLOW LATEST COVERAGE<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The organization has repeatedly said it does not want to play spoiler and sees a path to victory. However, it faces two critical problems it may be unable to solve, according to Bernard Tamas, an associate professor of political science at Valdosta State University.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe first one is that they did not actually put up what could be considered a traditional way of actually running a third-party candidate,\u201d said Tamas, \u201cwhich is that the first and foremost thing you need is some sort of a galvanizing issue that speaks to people who feel like they\u2019re being ignored by the major parties.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The second is its recruitment struggles.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTo add to that problem, they\u2019re actually asking major party politicians to step away from their parties to run for them with no clear sign that there\u2019s anything in it for them, that it\u2019s going to have any positive impact,\u201d added Tamas, author of the book <em>The Demise and Rebirth of American Third Parties<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Several other political experts echoed those criticisms in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/campaigns\/2920372\/no-labels-wants-a-republican-to-help-take-down-trump-but-it-could-still-backfire\/\">previous conversations<\/a>\u00a0with the <em>Washington Examiner<\/em>. \u201cThey\u2019re running out of stars to put at the top of their ticket,\u201d said Jay Townsend, a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/review-in-trumps-shadow-the-battle-for-2024-and-the-future-of-the-gop\/\" title=\"REVIEW: \u2018In Trump\u2019s Shadow: The Battle for 2024 and the Future of the GOP\u2019\">political consultant based<\/a> in New York City, earlier this month.<\/p>\n<p>Kennedy has troubles of his own. His campaign has only gained access to Utah\u2019s state ballot. Meanwhile, No Labels has qualified in well over a dozen. His previous statements flirting with conspiracy theories and vaccine hesitancy could also limit his appeal.<\/p>\n<p>But Kennedy consistently hovers around 10% support in a three-way matchup against Trump and Biden, likely due to public familiarity with his last name. And his choice of Nicole Shanahan, a former Democratic donor, as his\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/campaigns\/2938556\/rfk-jr-selects-nicole-shanahan-as-vice-presidential-pick\/\">running mate<\/a> will boost his efforts to gain ballot access in all 50 states, roughly half of which require a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/joe-biden-knows-he-messed-up-on-fracking-at-debate-and-is-now-doing-damage-control-the-daily-wire\/\" title=\"Joe Biden Knows He Messed Up On Fracking At Debate And Is Now Doing Damage Control | The Daily Wire\">vice presidential candidate<\/a> to qualify.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think almost certainly, he\u2019s going to be the most consequential third-party candidacy this election and my sense is probably since Ross Perot,\u201d said Lee Drutman, senior fellow in the political reform program at New America and author of the book <em>Breaking the Two-Party Doom Loop: The Case for Multiparty Democracy in America<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>The wealth of Shanahan, the ex-wife of Google co-founder Sergey Brin, is part of that calculus. She could help ease the financial burden of running an independent campaign.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe biggest impact that RFK\u2019s wealthy running mate will have is with an infusion of money for their ticket\u2019s ballot access campaign,\u201d said Matt Bennett, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/flashback-former-ag-barr-initiated-spying-program-on-americans-back-in-1992\/\" title=\"FLASHBACK: Former AG Barr Initiated Spying Program on Americans Back in 1992\">executive vice president<\/a> for public affairs at Third Way, a centrist Democratic group, in a statement to the\u00a0<em>Washington Examiner<\/em>. \u201cSo far, RFK has lagged well behind No Labels, which is on the ballot in more states and more major battlegrounds \u2014 even without a candidate. Of those, at least three \u2014 Arizona, Nevada, and North Carolina \u2014 are important battleground states that could prove decisive on Election Day.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEven some of these minor gadfly third-party candidates can sometimes tip an election,\u201d said political consultant Nachama Soloveichik. \u201cThere\u2019s a reason why when I\u2019ve done Senate races and stuff, you work really hard to try to kick the Libertarian candidate off the ballot. Because even if they\u2019re going to take 1% of the vote, these swing states are decided by a very close margin, and the presidential race is not really different than a Senate race in the sense that it\u2019s state by state.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/no-biologists-to-be-found-as-biden-admin-departments-refuse-to-answer-what-is-a-woman\/\" title=\"No Biologists to Be Found as Biden Admin Departments Refuse to Answer \u201cWhat Is a Woman?\u201d\">press call hosted<\/a> by the Democratic National Committee, lawmakers excoriated Kennedy\u2019s campaign and stressed they were not underestimating his ability to harm Biden in a matchup that is expected to remain close through Election Day. A\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.realclearpolling.com\/polls\/president\/general\/2024\/trump-vs-biden-vs-kennedy\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><em>RealClearPolitics<\/em><\/a>\u00a0polling average shows Trump at 40.7%, Biden at 35%, and Kennedy at 12.3%.<\/p>\n<p>However, experts caution against assuming that Kennedy\u2019s supporters are simply disaffected Biden voters.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe numbers are so small in the end that statistically, it\u2019s actually really hard to tell for sure who they\u2019re going to be taking more votes for,\u201d Tamas said of third-party candidates. \u201cSo, even though it looks right now like it hurts Biden more, nobody actually knows that, which I think explains why Trump is also attacking RFK Jr.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Trump attacked Kennedy in a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/truthsocial.com\/@realDonaldTrump\/posts\/112166092415580232\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Truth Social<\/a>\u00a0post early Wednesday morning, calling him the \u201cmost Radical Left Candidate in the race\u201d and claiming that \u201che is Crooked Joe Biden\u2019s Political Opponent, not mine. Some people could go out and vote for down-ballot races like Senate and things like that and just leave the presidential ballot blank.
