The resolution\u2064 calls for \u2062divestment from entities involved in the &#8220;occupation of\u200b Palestine.&#8221; \u200bAmendments were \u2062made to\u200b allow\u2063 this vote format due to concerns about doxxing and harassment. The decision\u2062 has sparked \u2063controversy within the Harvard community. The Harvard Law School student government&#8217;s current vote on a resolution to\u2062 boycott\u2063 Israel via an online\u2063 secret ballot, urging divestment from\u200d entities linked\u2064 to \u2062the &#8220;occupation of Palestine,&#8221; has stirred \u200ccontroversy. Amendments enabling this voting method were implemented due\u200c to concerns of doxxing and harassment, \u2062sparking\u2064 debate within the Harvard community.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Harvard Law School\u2019s student government is actively voting on a resolution to boycott Israel through a secretive online ballot, a departure from bylaws that required an in-person recorded vote.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The resolution, which can only be voted on through an anonymous Google survey by members by Friday at 8:00 a.m., calls on all Harvard institutions to divest from entities that have a hand in the \u201coccupation of Palestine,\u201d without defining if \u201cPalestine\u201d includes only the West Bank and Gaza or Israel proper as well.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cHarvard Law School Government calls upon all institutions and organizations within the Harvard community to divest from institutions, weapons manufacturers, firms, academic programs, corporations, and all other institutions that aid the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/a-monty-python-sketch-ottawa-mayor-mocks-freedom-convoy\/\" title=\"\u2018A Monty Python Sketch\u2019: Ottawa Mayor Mocks Freedom Convoy\">ongoing illegal occupation<\/a> of Palestine and the genocide of Palestinians,\u201d the resolution states.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">In an emergency meeting, the bylaws for the student government were amended earlier this week to permit the secretive vote rather than complying with the usual requirement of voting by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/rep-massie-accuses-cdc-of-making-false-claims-regarding-covid-19-vaccine\/\" title=\"Rep. Massie accuses CDC of making false claims regarding COVID-19 vaccine\">roll call<\/a> or acclamation.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cOur body decided to proceed via voting by Google form to address concerns regarding doxxing and harassment,\u201d the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/skidmore-college-refuses-to-recognize-club-due-to-troublesome-pro-israel-stance\/\" title=\"Skidmore College Refuses To Recognize Club Due to \u2018Troublesome\u2019 Pro-Israel Stance\">student government\u2019<\/a>s co-president Agrawal Swap wrote in an email to the assistant dean of students obtained by The Daily Wire. \u201cThe Student Council voted at the outset of Tuesday\u2019s meeting to amend the bylaws to allow the Student Council to consider and vote on this resolution via a closed and anonymous Google form rather than a public list and in-person roll call.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a Screen \u2018How To Blow Up A Pipeline\u2019 Film<\/b><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The amendment met the two-thirds threshold for approval by a 12 out of 14 vote.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Executive Board of Harvard Law School\u2019s Alliance for Israel (AFI) slammed the student government for holding the unannounced emergency meeting, and failing to give them notice so they could voice opposition.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cWe are deeply disappointed that Alliance for Israel, as an important stakeholder in the community, was not informed about this meeting, nor invited to speak,\u201d the group wrote in a letter, adding that the student government failed to pass any resolution condemning antisemitic attacks on campus or Hamas\u2019s October 7 massacre and rape of Israeli civilians.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cEven if the student government had done all of these things, this resolution would still be wildly inappropriate,\u201d the letter added. \u201cThe fact that it has done none of these things makes matters all the worse.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Shabbos Kestenbaum, a Harvard Divinity School student who is <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/jewish-students-sue-harvard-for-failing-to-stop-<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/things-that-donald-trump-did-not-do\/\" title=\"Things That Donald Trump Did Not Do\">anti-semitism<\/a>-while-threatening-discipline-for-fatphobia&#8221;><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">suing Harvard<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> over claims of enabling anti-Semitism, took issue with the representatives seeing anonymity to avoid accountability.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a accountability for how you vote,\u201d he told The Daily Wire. \u201cIf these students, who believe that Israel is an apartheid regime conducting ethnic cleansing, are our future policymakers, Supreme Court justices, and lawyers, then our country is in serious danger.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The resolution accuses Israel of conducting a \u201cgenocidal campaign in Gaza,\u201d ethnically cleansing Palestinians, and occupying \u201cPalestine.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cFurthermore, claims of an \u2018ongoing illegal occupation of Palestine\u2019 implies Israel has no right to exist and threatens its legitimacy,\u201d the AFI letter states. \u201cThis resolution, compounded by the student government\u2019s failure to address antisemitism on campus and the violence and suffering Hamas caused Israelis, sends a message to Jews and Israelis that they are not welcome at HLS.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a which found that <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thecrimson.com\/article\/2020\/3\/19\/harvard-israel-palestine-investments\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Harvard invested<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> $200 million in companies tied to the Israeli Defense Forces and Israeli settlements in Judea and Samaria.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">To build its case, the resolution cites Harvard\u2019s history of divesting in other situations including from some South African companies and tobacco stocks.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight:
