With 216 seats in favor, Republicans \u2062need only \u200cto secure two out of the ten toss-up seats to reach a majority of\u200b 218. Democrats, with 209 seats in\u2063 total, must win \u200bnine toss-up seats\u200c to \u200dachieve a majority. Will \u2063Reinert, the National Republican Congressional Committee national \u2062press secretary, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/michael-savage-welcomes-ukrainian-refugees-rips-racist-left-for-making-about-race\/\" title=\"Michael Savage Welcomes Ukrainian Refugees, Rips \u2018Racist\u2019 Left for Making About Race\">highlighted factors<\/a>&#8230;  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Despite months of turmoil and fractures within the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/house-republicans\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>House Republican Conference<\/a>, the GOP remains in a better position to win control of the next House than <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/house-democrats\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Democrats<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>While Republican retirements and infighting have weakened the House GOP\u2019s margin for error, its prospects still look good heading into November, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.insideelections.com\/ratings\/house\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>according to<\/a> an analysis from Inside Elections.<\/p>\n<p>There are 188 races currently regarded as solidly in control of Republicans and 28 rated as lean, tilt, or likely Republican, bringing the total for the GOP to 216 seats. This means the Republicans only need to win two of the 10 seats rated as \u201ctoss-ups\u201d to reach 218 and secure a majority.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>As for the Democrats, there are currently 175 seats rated as solidly Democratic. Thirty-four seats are regarded as lean, tilt, or likely Democratic, bringing their total to 209. In order for the Democrats to win a majority, they must win nine of the toss-up seats.<\/p>\n<p>National Republican Congressional Committee national press secretary Will Reinert gave several reasons for the analysis looking grim for Democrats, citing a <em>Roll Call<\/em> <a href=\"https:\/\/rollcall.com\/2024\/03\/27\/race-to-house-majority-runs-through-the-10-toss-ups\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>article that stated<\/a>, \u201cthe GOP is better-positioned to maintain control of the House.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe border, crime and economic crisis \u2014 it\u2019s an anchor around the necks of extreme House Democrats\u2019 reelection prospects,\u201d Reinert said.<\/p>\n<p>Five of the toss-up seats are currently held by Republicans, and five are held by Democrats, including an open seat in Michigan currently held by Rep. Elissa Slotkin (D-MI), who is running for Senate.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>President Joe Biden won nine of the toss-up districts in 2020, whereas Donald Trump only won one \u2014 Washington\u2019s 3rd Congressional District.\u00a0Democrats are hoping that Biden\u2019s success in toss-up districts four years ago will carry over for them in the House, but his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/republican-flips-iowa-state-house-seat-held-by-democrats-for-decades\/\" title=\"Republican Flips Iowa State House Seat Held By Democrats For Decades\">low approval ratings<\/a> might suggest otherwise.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/washingtonexaminer.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>CLICK HERE TO READ MORE FROM THE WASHINGTON EXAMINER<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The mass exodus of House Republicans, including Rep. Mike Gallagher (R-WI) <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/house\/2934364\/mike-gallagher-leave-house-early-narrowing-republicans-majority\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>announcing<\/a> he will leave before his term expires, has shrunken the House GOP\u2019s majority. Furthermore, disagreements between prominent lawmakers have continued to display the fractures in the conference, with Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/house\/2933865\/speaker-johnnson-motion-to-vacate-mtg\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>even filing a motion<\/a> to vacate House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA).<\/p>\n<p>Still, Democrats face an uphill battle to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/apple-of-their-eye-the-house-gop-has-a-math-and-a-map-problem-in-new-york\/\" title=\"GOP in NY has a math and map issue\">wrestle back control<\/a> of the lower chamber, with the data pointing to Republicans retaining their hold.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Despite internal turmoil and division among House Republicans, the GOP holds a stronger position than Democrats to secure control of the upcoming House session.
