The outcome includes fines and a suspension\u2063 of his license. Media coverage and Democratic initiatives targeting lawyers engaged in election disputes are fueling worries about partisan bias in the legal arena.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<div>\n<div>\n<figure>                         <\/figure>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>A California judge aided Democrats who have long weaponized the legal system to attack their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/ted-cruz-manages-to-trigger-leftists-by-doing-something-millions-of-americans-do-every-year\/\" title=\"Ted Cruz Manages To Trigger Leftists by Doing Something Millions of Americans Do Every Year\">political opponents<\/a> this week when she recommended that constitutional lawyer John Eastman be disbarred for daring to question the integrity of the 2020 presidential election.  <\/p>\n<p>In <a href=\"https:\/\/www.documentcloud.org\/documents\/24521265-sbc-23-o-30029-decision-trial\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">her decision<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/10\/25\/democrats-campaign-to-disbar-john-eastman-is-designed-to-criminalize-republican-election-challenges\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">longtime Democrat donor<\/a> Judge Yvette Roland claimed that \u201cEastman\u2019s wrongdoing constitutes exceptionally serious ethical violations warranting severe professional discipline.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEastman made multiple patently false and misleading statements in court filings, in public remarks heard by countless Americans and to others regarding the conduct of the 2020 presidential election and Vice President Pence\u2019s authority to refuse to count or delay counting properly certified slates of electoral votes on January 6, 2021,\u201d she wrote.<\/p>\n<p>As a result of the ruling, Eastman is expected to pay $10,000 in fines, and his law license will be placed in \u201cinvoluntary inactive status\u201d by Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>Corporate media, which have granted special attention to the lawyers leading the lawfare against Democrats\u2019 political opponents, rallied around Roland\u2019s recommendation as a victory for the left\u2019s partisan targeting campaign. <\/p>\n<p>Forbes <a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/alisondurkee\/2024\/03\/28\/trump-attorney-john-eastman-recommended-for-disbarment-here-are-all-the-former-presidents-lawyers-now-facing-consequences\/?sh=edb3b725d444\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">claimed<\/a> Eastman\u2019s potential disbarment was merely a \u201cconsequence\u201d of his unacceptable opposition to Democrat lies that the 2020 election was the most secure in history and accused him and others of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/alisondurkee\/2024\/03\/28\/150-million-and-counting-how-much-trumps-attorneys-have-paid-for-trying-to-overturn-the-2020-election-as-john-eastman-faces-disbarment\/?sh=7321b8ce1a3e\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\u201cTrying To Overturn The 2020 Election.\u201d<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/2024\/03\/27\/john-eastman-disbarred-00149468\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Politico<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.msnbc.com\/rachel-maddow-show\/maddowblog\/judge-recommends-disbarment-architect-trumps-election-plot-rcna145432\">MSNBC<\/a> smeared Eastman as the \u201carchitect of Trump\u2019s election plot.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/02\/05\/democrats-work-to-strip-all-opponents-of-representation-in-court\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Democrats<\/a> have tried to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/07\/22\/more-than-100-trump-affiliated-lawyers-targeted-by-dark-money-group\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">disbar more than 100 attorneys<\/a>\u00a0who agreed to work on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/lara-trump-would-be-honored-to-co-chair-rnc-following-trump-endorsement\/\" title=\"Lara Trump 'honored' to co-chair RNC with Trump's endorsement\">election integrity cases<\/a> following the 2020 presidential election. With the help of positive amplification from the press, they\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/02\/05\/effective-republican-attorneys-general-get-slapped-with-politicized-ethics-charges\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">expanded that lawfare<\/a>\u00a0to lawyers around the country who defend conservatives, including half of Republican attorneys general.<\/p>\n<p>Eastman, in particular, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsweek.com\/john-eastman-video-phone-search-fbi-seized-confiscated-viral-1719808\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">faced scrutiny<\/a> from the FBI,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/06\/10\/the-j6-inquisition-is-an-obvious-soviet-style-show-trial\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">House Democrats\u2019 sham Jan. 6 Committee<\/a>, and Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis. State Bar of California (SBC) prosecutors, at the <a href=\"https:\/\/statesuniteddemocracy.org\/eastman\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">behest of a leftist legal group founded by a former Obama White House official<\/a>, also investigated and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.calbar.ca.gov\/About-Us\/News\/News-Releases\/attorney-john-eastman-charged-with-multiple-disciplinary-counts-by-the-state-bar-of-california\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">filed 11 charges<\/a> against Eastman because he advised former President Donald Trump on how to handle the 2020 election shenanigans.<\/p>\n<p>As The Federalist\u2019s Shawn Fleetwood <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/10\/25\/democrats-campaign-to-disbar-john-eastman-is-designed-to-criminalize-republican-election-challenges\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">noted last year<\/a>, Roland repeatedly \u201cappeared very antagonistic towards Eastman and his legal team while at the same time giving preferential treatment to the prosecution\u201d during the trial.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn one instance, Roland allowed the SBC to call witnesses such as Stephen Richer to testify despite having no relevance to the trial.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/arizonasuntimes.com\/news\/stephen-richer-testifies-during-third-day-of-disbarment-trial-of-trump-attorney-john-eastman\/ralexander\/2023\/06\/23\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Richer<\/a>, who serves as Maricopa County, Arizona\u2019s election recorder,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/10\/20\/az-election-official-stephen-richer-ran-on-election-integrity-now-hes-accused-of-law-breaking-and-politicking\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">regularly attacks<\/a>\u00a0conservatives concerned about <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/progressive-policies-need-to-be-fought-off-by-states-rep-steube\/\" title=\"Progressive Policies Need to Be Fought Off by States: Rep. Steube\">election integrity issues<\/a> and oversaw Maricopa\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/11\/23\/maricopa-county-made-arizonas-elections-even-more-of-a-disaster-than-people-realize\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">disastrous and chaotic 2022 midterm elections<\/a>,\u201d Fleetwood wrote.<\/p>\n<p>In her ruling, Roland complained that Eastman defended himself in <a href=\"https:\/\/johneastman.substack.com\/p\/response-to-california-bar-investigation\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">a response<\/a> eviscerating the SBC prosecutors\u2019 allegations that he knowingly promoted \u201cfalse\u201d information about the 2020 election.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHis lack of insight into the wrongfulness of his misconduct is deeply troubling,\u201d Roland wrote. \u201cWhile Eastman is entitled to defend himself, his conduct goes beyond this, revealing a complete failure to understand the wrongfulness of his actions.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Eastman\u2019s legal counsel <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wpr.org\/news\/california-judge-recommends-disbarment-of-pro-trump-attorney-john-eastman#:~:text=%E2%80%9CDr.%20Eastman%20maintains%20that%20his,Miller%20wrote%20in%20a%20statement.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">maintains<\/a> that the constitutional scholar\u2019s \u201chandling of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/breaking-president-trump-gives-pardons-to-73-individuals-and-commutes-another-70-sentences-steve-bannon-is-included\/\" title=\"BREAKING: President Trump Gives Pardons to 73 Individuals and Commutes Another 70 Sentences \u2013 Steve Bannon Is Included\">legal issues<\/a> he was asked to assess after the November 2020 election was based on reliable legal precedent, prior residential <em>[sic]<\/em> elections, research of constitutional text, and extensive scholarly material.\u201d<\/p>\n<hr>\n<p>   Jordan Boyd is a staff writer at The Federalist and co-producer of The Federalist Radio Hour.
