Luke Clippinger, a fellow Democrat hailing from Baltimore County, and others from the area to draft the legislation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOver 15,000 in the Balt region rely on daily operations at Port of Baltimore to put food on the table,\u201d Ferguson <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SenBillFerg\/status\/1772949242610327563\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said<\/a>. \u201cToday, with [Clippinger] and colleagues representing Port, we are drafting an emergency bill to provide for income replacement for workers impacted by this travesty.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The incident involved a container ship named Dali ramming into the Francis Scott Key Bridge, causing the bridge to break apart. Six people, identified as construction workers who were filling potholes on the bridge, are <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/6-people-presumed-dead-after-cargo-ship-crash-levels-baltimore-bridge\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">presumed dead<\/a>,<\/p>\n<p>With the bridge in shambles, the Port of Baltimore has been closed \u201cuntil further notice,\u201d leading experts to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.businessinsider.com\/baltimore-port-closure-could-cost-15-million-per-day-2024-3\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">tell Business Insider<\/a> the closure may obstruct $15 million in daily economic activity.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe human cost of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/13-illegal-migrants-drowned-last-week-attempting-to-cross-into-texas\/\" title=\"13 Illegal Migrants Drowned Last Week Attempting to Cross Into Texas\">lives lost yesterday<\/a> is overwhelming and tragic.
