We are in the state of Florida ending the squatter scam once and for all,\u201d DeSantis said during a press conference in Orlando.<\/p>\n<p>In one instance, a squatter <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/desantis-eliminates-squatters-rightsflorida-gives-power-cops-remove-offenders\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>reportedly<\/a> moved into a $500 million home in Bonita Springs and was found in the owner\u2019s clothing.<\/p>\n<p>The law allows property owners to call the sheriff\u2019s office to remove squatters if they can\u2019t produce documents showing they are authorized to live there, and it allows owners to file an affidavit showing ownership of the property.\u00a0Before the passage of the legislation, squatters were considered tenants and homeowners would have to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/left-wing-activists-sue-to-change-public-policy-where-their-candidates-cannot-win-report\/\" title=\"Report: Left-wing activists file lawsuits to alter public policy in areas where their candidates are unable to secure victory\">endure lengthy court battles<\/a> to remove them.<\/p>\n<p>Squatters who damage a home face a second<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/newly-elected-texas-mayor-busted-for-allegedly-soliciting-a-child-online\/\" title=\"Newly Elected Texas Mayor Busted For Allegedly Soliciting A Child Online\">-degree felony charge<\/a>, and those who fraudulently sell or lease a property face a first-degree felony.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI want to thank our legislative body, both our delegates here in central Florida and abroad, because this <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/democrats-and-media-enablers-are-overlooking-child-sex-crimes-to-protect-ketanji-brown-jackson\/\" title=\"Democrats And Media Enablers Are Overlooking Child Sex Crimes To Protect Ketanji Brown Jackson\">received unanimous support<\/a>, and it\u2019s been long too often where we\u2019ve seen homeowners that have spent their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/feinstein-fetterman-and-biden-illustrate-democrats-double-standard-on-mental-acuity\/\" title=\"Feinstein, Fetterman, And Biden Illustrate Democrats\u2019 Double Standard On Mental Acuity\">entire life working<\/a> and earning,\u201d Seminole County Sheriff Dennis M. This forces a massive, long, drawn-out judicial review before they can even be removed from the property.
