Small trucks and moving vans will need to pay $24 every time they enter the district, large trucks will need to pay $36, and motorcycles will need to pay $7.50. (AP Photo\/Ted Shaffrey, File)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The review board predicted that their congestion pricing plan would reduce the number of vehicles entering the area by 17%, which would reduce the number of cars in the area by 153,000, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnewyork.com\/traffic\/transit-traffic\/congestion-pricing-nyc-mta-vote\/5264500\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>according<\/a> to NBC New York. It is also expected to bring in $15 billion.<\/p>\n<p>Despite the board\u2019s approval, several lawsuits have emerged from the congestion plan, including one from <a href=\"http:\/\/washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/phil-murphy\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Gov. Phil Murphy<\/a> (D-NJ), who said he would protect <a href=\"http:\/\/washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/new-jersey\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>New Jersey<\/a> residents who commute into the city for work.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe MTA\u2019s actions today are further proof that they are determined to violate the law in order to balance their budget on the backs of New Jersey commuters,\u201d Murphy said in a <a href=\"https:\/\/nj.gov\/governor\/news\/news\/562024\/approved\/20240327b.shtml\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>statement<\/a>. \u201cWe will continue to avail ourselves of every option in order to protect residents on this side of the Hudson from an unfair tolling scheme that discriminates against New Jerseyans, especially lower and middle-income drivers.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title><strong>CLICK HERE TO READ MORE FROM THE WASHINGTON EXAMINER<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Bus drivers, police cars, ambulances, fire trucks, and other specialized government vehicles are exempt from the fees.<\/p>\n<p>Drivers who make less than $50,000 a year can apply for a discounted fee after their first 10 drives each month.
