Chairwoman Virginia Foxx expressed concerns about the administration&#8217;s response to antisemitism on\u200b campus.\u200b Rutgers becomes the\u2063 fifth school under scrutiny for\u2062 its handling of antisemitic incidents amidst a broader investigation into universities.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/house-education-and-the-workforce\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>House Education and Workforce Committee<\/a> launched an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/antisemitism\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>antisemitism<\/a> investigation into <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/rutgers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Rutgers University<\/a> on Wednesday, citing the school\u2019s \u201cfailure to protect Jewish students.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Committee Chairwoman Virginia Foxx (R-NC) sent a letter to six members of Rutgers senior leadership detailing allegedly antisemitic incidents and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/blinken-accuses-sen-paul-of-obstruction-harming-national-security-with-confirmation-delays-for-diplomats\/\" title=\"Blinken blames Sen. Paul for obstructing diplomats' confirmation, harming national security.\">requesting documents related<\/a> to communications, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/they-dont-want-the-truth-to-come-out-senate-democrats-file-ethics-complaint-against-senators-cruz-and-hawley-for-challenging-election-fraud\/\" title=\"They Don\u2019t Want the Truth to Come Out: Senate Democrats File Ethics Complaint Against Senators Cruz and Hawley for Challenging Election Fraud\">disciplinary action<\/a>, and procedures involving antisemitism on campus.<\/p>\n<p>Rutgers is now the fifth school in the country to be the target of the committee\u2019s widening antisemitism inquiry of universities.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have grave concerns regarding the inadequacy of Rutgers\u2019 response to antisemitism on its campuses,\u201d Foxx wrote in the letter. \u201cRutgers stands out for the intensity and pervasiveness of antisemitism on its campuses. Rutgers senior administrators, faculty, staff, academic departments and centers, and student organizations have contributed to the development of a pervasive climate of antisemitism.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Foxx highlighted a \u201cpattern of deeply troubling incidents\u201d that have taken place at the school, including some involving the Rutgers-Newark Center for Security, Race and Rights, which the letter claims has become \u201ca hotbed of radical antisemitic, anti-American, anti-Israel, and pro-terrorist activity.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to the letter, CSRR\u2019s director, Sahar Aziz and, others at the center have a history of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/hon-thaddeus-g-mccotter-the-cultural-contradictions-of-progressivism-modernizing-the-blood-libel\/\" title=\"Hon. Thaddeus G. McCotter: The Cultural Contradictions of Progressivism: Modernizing the \u201cBlood Libel\u201d\">antisemitic activity<\/a>, including \u201cjustif[ying] the October 7, 2023, terrorist attack against Israel in an October 31 tweet, stating, \u2018To assess Hamas\u2019s October 7th operation and the Israeli regime\u2019s subsequent response in isolation is to ignore over 75 years of colonial violence and the horrific consequences born out of these decades of oppression and attempted erasure.&#8217;\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Aziz is <a href=\"https:\/\/events.cornell.edu\/event\/antisemitism_and_islamophobia_examined_9599\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>scheduled to speak<\/a> at Cornell University on a panel on Thursday titled \u201cRacializing Religion: Islamophobia, Antisemitism and Palestine.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The center also hosted former University of South Florida professor Sami al Arian in 2021 for a 9\/11 anniversary event that \u201cchallenges the exceptionalization of 9\/11\/2001; legitimization of \u2018war on terror\u2019 and other imperialist wars and interventions; justification of the \u2018Security\u2019 State, and promotion of hyper masculinity and a colonial gender and sexualized order of modernization and \u2018civilization.\u2019\u201d Al Arian pleaded guilty and was convicted of \u201cproviding material support to the designated terrorist group Palestinian Islamic Jihad,\u201d according to the letter.<\/p>\n<p>The letter also cited other examples, such as administrators from Rutgers Law School opening disciplinary proceedings against a Jewish student for challenging allegedly antisemitic messages in a Student Bar Association group chat, as well as the school\u2019s chapter of Students for Justice in Palestine, which has allegedly harassed students and disrupted learning and campus life while receiving tens of thousands of dollars from student government.<\/p>\n<p>Foxx pointed to Feb. 29 testimony from Rutgers student Joe Gindi, who spoke about the campus climate of antisemitism.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cJew hatred has become rampant at Rutgers University. And it has become clear that some members of the school\u2019s administration and faculty are complicit in allowing, and even in encouraging, this hate to grow,\u201d Gindi said, adding, \u201cAt Rutgers University, like at many other campuses, there appears to be selective enforcement of [university] rules.
