The 5th U.S. \u2063Circuit Court of Appeals previously found the FDA&#8217;s actions illegal. The Alliance Defending Freedom\u2062 represents the plaintiffs. The debate includes the need for\u200b women \u2063to consult a doctor before using the pills. Kaitlan Collins from CNN highlighted the safety of abortion pills post-Supreme Court\u2064 discussions\u200b on FDA approval for mail-order. The 5th U.S. Circuit Court of\u200d Appeals had earlier deemed the FDA&#8217;s actions\u200b unlawful. Representing the plaintiffs, the Alliance Defending Freedom raised the importance \u2062of women consulting a doctor before \u200copting for these pills.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<div>\n<div>\n<figure>\n<p>         <span>Image Credit<\/span>Grabien screengrab       <\/p>\n<\/figure><\/div>\n<p>CNN\u2019s Kaitlan Collins promoted abortion pills as safe on Tuesday following Supreme Court <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/03\/26\/supreme-court-hears-challenge-to-fdas-reckless-approval-of-unsafe-mail-order-abortion\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">arguments <\/a>over the Food and Drug Administration approving the deadly drugs for mail order.<\/p>\n<p>The nine-justice panel is now deciding whether to uphold a decision from the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals that found the FDA illegally approved expansions for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/texas-dem-leads-charge-against-bidens-mail-order-abortion-regs\/\" title=\"Texas Dem Leads Charge Against Biden\u2019s Mail-Order Abortion Regs\">mail-order abortion<\/a>. The case is being litigated by the Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF), a First Amendment legal non-profit, representing the plaintiffs against the government. <\/p>\n<p>In a segment in which she also grilled plaintiff Christina Francis, a board member of the American Association of Pro-Life Obstetricians and Gynecologists, Collins pressed ADF President and General Counsel Kristen Waggoner on justices questioning whether the plaintiffs had proven substantive harm from the drugs.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat the justices were making clear today is that despite what the doctor says, they weren\u2019t able to show that they had actually suffered harm from this drug and that they would in the future if it remains available,\u201d Collins said. <\/p>\n<p>Waggoner highlighted the FDA\u2019s own label on abortion pills showing \u201cone in 25 women are going to have the visit the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/cnn-skips-fact-checking-to-run-with-nurses-unverified-story-about-covid-patients-last-dying-words\/\" title=\"CNN Skips Fact-Checking To Run With Nurse's Unverified Story About COVID Patients 'Last Dying Words'\">emergency room<\/a>, and up to 7 percent of women are going to have surgical interventions.\u201d All the petitioners are asking for, she noted, is for women to have contact with a doctor before they induce a miscarriage at home.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re told that it\u2019s safe, that no one has the right to challenge the FDA. And this is the same FDA that told us that opioids were safe to use for chronic pain and that surely no one would get addicted,\u201d Waggoner added. <\/p>\n<p>Collins responded by claiming \u201cpenicillin is more dangerous than mifepristone, and that\u2019s plenty used in the United States. That\u2019s not being argued before the Supreme Court,\u201d Collins said. <\/p>\n<p>Waggoner responded by going through FDA statistics, explaining \u201cthat up to 7 percent of women are going to have surgical interventions. In just 2020, the FDA said that an in<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/fda-will-no-longer-require-in-person-doctor-visits-for-abortion-pill\/\" title=\"FDA Will No Longer Require In-Person Doctor Visits for Abortion Pill\">-person doctor visit<\/a> is not only minimally burdensome on a patient, but it\u2019s necessary.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd they explicitly said that thousands of women are presenting with severe complications as a result of taking this drug,\u201d Waggoner said. Collins responded by again claiming the drug is \u201csafe,\u201d then retreated from that topic by talking about whether the justices would allow the case to be brought.<\/p>\n<p>Federalist Reporter Jordan Boyd expanded on mifepristone\u2019s safety Tuesday, noting \u201cdata showing mifepristone is responsible for a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/04\/07\/federal-judge-says-fda-wrongfully-approved-abortion-pill\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">500 percent increase<\/a>\u00a0in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/women-misrepresenting-chemical-abortions-as-miscarriages-at-increased-risk-of-multiple-hospitalizations-study-finds\/\" title=\"Women Misrepresenting Chemical Abortions As Miscarriages At Increased Risk Of Multiple Hospitalizations, Study Finds\">abortion-related emergency room visits<\/a> for complications such as\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/prochoice.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/phone_triage_guide.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">hemorrhage<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.mayoclinic.org\/drugs-supplements\/mifepristone-oral-route\/side-effects\/drg-20067123\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\u2018fast, weak pulse,\u2019 \u2018shortness of breath,\u2019 diarrhea, dizziness, headache, vomiting<\/a>, and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.mayoclinic.org\/drugs-supplements\/mifepristone-oral-route\/side-effects\/drg-20067123\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\u2018pain\u2019 across the back, arms, neck, and abdomen<\/a>, and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/lozierinstitute.org\/fact-sheet-risks-and-complications-of-chemical-abortion\/#_ftn19\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">a myriad of other risks<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n<hr>\n<p>   Tristan Justice is the western correspondent for The Federalist and the author of Social Justice Redux, a conservative newsletter on culture, health, and wellness.
