The agreement, unanimously\u2063 approved by\u2064 the board, resolves state\u2062 lawsuits stemming from the 2023 state takeover. The settlement includes the dismissal of\u2062 claims in \u2064state court \u2064and nullifies development\u2062 agreements\u200d and restrictive covenants. Both \u200bparties express \u2062optimism for future collaboration.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>The Central <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/florida\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"Disney\">Florida<\/a> Tourism Oversight District board announced it reached and agreed to a settlement with <a href=\"https:\/\/washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/disney\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"Disney\">Disney<\/a> to resolve litigation over authority regarding the district encompassing the Walt Disney World Resort.<\/p>\n<p>The board unanimously adopted the agreement, which will resolve state <a href=\"https:\/\/washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/lawsuit\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"lawsuits\">lawsuits<\/a> levied by both the district and Disney, challenging the state\u2019s 2023 takeover of the Central Florida district. <\/p>\n<p>The settlement will dismiss the claims in state court, including a public records case brought by Disney against the district, according to a summary offered by the district during a board meeting on Wednesday. The agreement will settle that the development agreement and restrictive covenants are null and void, among other points.<\/p>\n<p>Charbel Barakat, vice chairman of the district\u2019s board of supervisors, said he is \u201cvery much pleased\u201d by the settlement after announcing it at the board\u2019s meeting on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think with this settlement, which is complete and significant, we are eager to work with Disney. I\u2019m certainly eager to work with Disney and all other businesses to make the country\u2019s tourist destination famous for a second reason, which is good government,\u201d Barakat said.<\/p>\n<p>Walt Disney World Resort President Jeff Vahle welcomed the agreement in a statement on Wednesday, saying it \u201cserves the interests of all parties.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis agreement opens a new chapter of constructive engagement with the new leadership of the district and serves the interests of all parties by enabling significant continued investment and the creation of thousands of direct and indirect jobs and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/republicans-vowed-to-elect-more-women-they-did-just-that\/\" title=\"Republicans Vowed To Elect More Women...They Did Just That\">economic opportunity<\/a> in the state,\u201d Vahle <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/disney-florida-ron-desantis-settlement-91040178ad4708939e621dd57bc5e494?taid=66042d3a94906a0001844bac&#038;utm_campaign=TrueAnthem&#038;utm_medium=AP&#038;utm_source=Twitter\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"said\">said<\/a> in a statement to the<em> Associated Press<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>The settlement ends nearly two years of fighting between Disney and Florida after the company spoke out against the Parental Rights in Education Act in March 2022. The law outlawed classroom instruction in kindergarten through third grade about sexual orientation and gender identity while also forbidding schools from withholding information from parents about students\u2019 health and well-being.<\/p>\n<p>In March 2022, Disney said it would strive to have the law \u201crepealed by the legislature or struck down in the courts.\u201d DeSantis said the statement crossed a line and worked to restructure the Reedy Creek Improvement District, which was ultimately renamed and put under <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/live-stream-video-dominion-voting-systems-ceo-john-poulos-testifies-before-michigan-state-oversight-committee-100-pm-et\/\" title=\"LIVE-STREAM VIDEO: Dominion Voting Systems CEO John Poulos Testifies Before Michigan State Oversight Committee \u2013 1:00 PM ET\">state oversight<\/a> in February 2023.<\/p>\n<p>Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) said on Wednesday he was \u201cglad\u201d to see the agreement and touted legal victories in the fight against Disney while speaking at an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/desantis-defends-floridas-new-guidance-on-covid-vax-for-children\/\" title=\"DeSantis Defends Florida\u2019s New Guidance on COVID Vax for Children\">unrelated press conference<\/a>.
