The\u2062 measure \u2064includes provisions \u2064on sports participation, restroom use, parental notifications of book checkouts, and delaying \u2063<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/the-irreversible-consequences-of-school-closures\/\" title=\"The Irreversible Consequences of School Closures\">sexual education<\/a>\u2064 until seventh\u200b grade. Republican Senator Clint\u200d Dixon emphasized protecting \u2064women&#8217;s sports integrity despite Democratic opposition. The \u200bbill aims to safeguard girls&#8217; mental\u2063 and physical health.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/georgia\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Georgia<\/a> Senate passed a bill late Tuesday restricting students claiming <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/transgender\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>transgender<\/a> identity from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/education\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>playing sports<\/a> that do not align with their biological sex, sending the measure to the state House.<\/p>\n<p>Several transgender-related measures were stitched together and attached to what was a bipartisan mental health proposal last week, and it passed over Democratic objections on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>The bill now heads to the Georgia House, in which lawmakers will consider whether to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/florida-teacher-arrested-for-allegedly-spraying-disinfectant-at-students-who-didnt-wear-masks-properly-faces-felony-child-abuse-charges\/\" title=\"Florida teacher arrested for allegedly spraying disinfectant at students who didn't wear masks properly, faces felony child abuse charges\">require students<\/a> to play on sports teams and use facilities that align with their biological sex, as well as whether to require schools to notify parents which books their children check out. The bill also includes a restriction on sexual education until seventh grade.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt protects the rights of women to compete against each other in athletic competition,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsbtv.com\/news\/local\/atlanta\/state-senate-passes-bill-restricting-what-sports-transgender-students-can-play\/XLNT2XSU2VCCROE266EKBQUSZI\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>said<\/a> Republican state Sen. Clint Dixon, who curated the bills.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA person who has gone through puberty as a man and who has developed as a man should not be allowed to compete in women\u2019s sports, no matter what <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/biden-has-signed-40-executive-orders-and-actions-since-taking-office\/\" title=\"Biden has signed 40 executive orders and actions since taking office\">gender identity<\/a> he claims at that time,\u201d Dixon <a href=\"https:\/\/www.11alive.com\/article\/news\/politics\/georgia-senate-passes-anti-transgender-bill\/85-045564e2-f854-4a21-9e70-2db11873f5c8\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>said<\/a>. \u201cNo matter what the male claims his gender identity is, it would be based on the birth certificate, and would not be allowed to play in those <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/biden-education-sec-on-womens-school-sports-we-have-a-legal-responsibility-to-include-transgender-athletes\/\" title=\"Biden Education Sec On Women\u2019s School Sports: We Have a \u2018Legal Responsibility\u2019 to Include Transgender Athletes\">girls sports<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The initial bipartisan bill was <a href=\"https:\/\/georgiarecorder.com\/2024\/03\/27\/transgender-sports-and-bathroom-rules-targeted-in-waning-days-of-georgia-2024-legislative-session\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>originally<\/a> aimed at safeguarding the mental health of student-athletes, but Republican leadership added the transgender-related components as a way to protect the mental and physical health of girls in Georgia, they said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI mean, what about females? We need to protect females and the sanctity of their playing their sports,\u201d Dixon said. \u201cIf males want to play sports, they need to play it with males.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Conservative groups in Georgia, such as the lobbying group Frontline Policy Action, applauded the move.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGeorgians overwhelmingly support saving girls sports, protecting the privacy of our daughters in bathrooms and changing rooms, and preserving the innocence of our children,\u201d Frontline President Cole Muzio said, according to the<em> Georgia Recorder<\/em>. \u201cHyperbolic statements and partisan rhetoric will not distract from the simple reality that this is something our citizens both want and deserve.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Democratic state Sen. Nabilah Islam Parkes slammed the measure as a \u201cFrankenstein bill,\u201d adding, \u201cTo marginalize and isolate transgender students, denying them the camaraderie and growth afforded by team sports and subject them to the indignity of being treated as outcasts in their own schools.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The bill inspired protests from some LGBT-identifying Georgians, who were already demonstrating outside the state Capitol for transgender liberation day.<\/p>\n<p>One such protester, a female-identifying pastor who is biologically male, Kalie Hargrove, told the <em>Georgia Recorder<\/em>, \u201cThere\u2019s this narrative out there that there are no trans kids and that it\u2019s something that people choose to be later.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">CLICK HERE TO READ MORE FROM THE WASHINGTON EXAMINER<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s a complete myth.
