Lindsey&#8217;s\u200b involvement in \u200ccases he previously lobbied for raised concerns about impartiality. The resolution highlighted the lack of transparency in Lindsey&#8217;s lobbying contracts and emphasized the importance of maintaining public confidence in the integrity of election oversight.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<div>\n<div>\n<figure>                         <\/figure>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The DeKalb County GOP unanimously approved a resolution on Saturday calling on Georgia State Election Board (SEB) member Edward Lindsey to resign over his history of voting on cases before the board involving clients he lobbied for. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhereas, Ed Lindsey has been unable to keep track of potential conflicts between his service on the State Elections Board and his lobbying practice,\u201d the resolution reads, \u201cThis County Republican Party calls on Ed Lindsey to resign immediately.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Lindsey was elevated to the SEB by the Georgia House in January 2022 and is up for re-confirmation this week. <\/p>\n<p>The Federalist previously <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/03\/18\/georgia-election-board-member-voted-on-cases-involving-counties-he-lobbied-for\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">unearthed<\/a> that Lindsey has presided over several cases involving DeKalb and Cobb Counties during his time as an SEB member. According to Georgia lobbyist registration and disclosure\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/media.ethics.ga.gov\/search\/Lobbyist\/Lobbyist_Name.aspx?&#038;FilerID=L20160004\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reports<\/a>, not only is Lindsey registered as a lobbyist for the governments of DeKalb and Cobb Counties, he\u2019s also a lobbyist for Dentons US LLP, a global law and lobbying firm that was contracted with both localities as recently as last year. <\/p>\n<p>Lindsey also <a href=\"https:\/\/media.ethics.ga.gov\/search\/Lobbyist\/Lobbyist_Name.aspx?&#038;FilerID=L20160004\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">previously lobbied<\/a>\u00a0on\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/media.ethics.ga.gov\/search\/Lobbyist\/Lobbyist_Group.aspx?&#038;FilerID=L20160004&#038;LGID=18883\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">behalf<\/a>\u00a0of the National Vote at Home Coalition, a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/antifa-leftists-get-censored-by-social-media-platforms\/\" title=\"Antifa, leftists get censored by social media platforms\">left-wing organization<\/a> that pushes insecure mail-in voting policies and notably interfered in the 2020 election to boost Democrats. <\/p>\n<p>While the SEB\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/sos.ga.gov\/page\/about-state-election-board\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Code of Conduct<\/a> requires members to \u201cavoid any appearance of conflict and\/or impropriety,\u201d Lindsey has declined to recuse himself from some matters involving DeKalb and Cobb that have been brought before the board. On Oct. 3, 2023, for instance, Lindsey and the SEB heard a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/sos.ga.gov\/sites\/default\/files\/forms\/Summary%208.1.23.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">case<\/a>\u00a0pertaining to a complaint filed against DeKalb County over several\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/assets.nationbuilder.com\/cpgeorgia\/pages\/2155\/attachments\/original\/1696897062\/GA_SEB_10-3-2023.pdf?1696897062\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/not-so-private-messaging-facebook-announces-fact-checking-in-whatsapp-for-french-election\/\" title=\"Not So Private Messaging: Facebook Announces 'Fact Checking' in WhatsApp For French Election\">election-related issues<\/a><\/a>, such as late poll openings and poor practices surrounding absentee ballot tabulation. He also presided over a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/sos.ga.gov\/sites\/default\/files\/2024-02\/Summary%202.13.24.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">case<\/a>\u00a0involving Cobb County last month. <\/p>\n<p>In its resolution, the DeKalb County GOP noted how \u201cthe public does not know the details of Ed Lindsey\u2019s lobbying contracts with these and other clients, including the goals these clients are trying to achieve with his help.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>\u201c[P]ublic confidence is undermined when lobbyists serve on this key watchdog agency\u2019s Board,\u201d the document reads.<\/p>\n<p>The local party further referenced Lindsey\u2019s recent decision to recuse himself from a case involving a 2023 complaint filed by DeKalb GOP Chair Marci McCarthy. That complaint alleged wrongdoing by DeKalb County for its acceptance of a $2 million grant from the Center for Tech and Civic Life, which poured hundreds of millions of \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2021\/10\/12\/the-2020-election-wasnt-stolen-it-was-bought-by-mark-zuckerberg\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Zuckbucks<\/a>\u201d into local election offices leading up to the 2020 to help Joe Biden. In order to acquire the monies, DeKalb\u2019s Democrat officials had the county\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/calls-grow-for-georgia-officials-to-investigate-dekalb-countys-acceptance-of-shady-election-funding\/\" title=\"Calls Grow For Georgia Officials To Investigate DeKalb County\u2019s Acceptance Of Shady Election Funding\">finance department apply<\/a> for the grant instead of the elections board, effectively circumventing Georgia\u2019s \u201cZuckbucks\u201d ban. <\/p>\n<p>SEB Paralegal Alexandra Hardin previously <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/03\/18\/georgia-election-board-member-voted-on-cases-involving-counties-he-lobbied-for\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">told<\/a> The Federalist that an investigation into the allegations raised in McCarthy\u2019s complaint is \u201cstill pending and open,\u201d and findings have yet to be presented to the board.<\/p>\n<p>After being pressed on the matter, Lindsey informed McCarthy last week that he would be recusing himself from the complaint, citing the fact that the \u201ccomplaint is against the DeKalb Commission and not merely the separate DeKalb Election Board.\u201d Lindsey previously <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/03\/18\/georgia-election-board-member-voted-on-cases-involving-counties-he-lobbied-for\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">told<\/a> The Federalist, \u201cIf a claim involves a direct allegation against a client of our firm, I have in the past and will in the future recuse myself.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In addition to calling for Lindsey\u2019s resignation, the DeKalb County GOP requested Speaker Jon Burns and the Republican-controlled House to replace Lindsey with someone who has \u201cno such conflicts\u201d and is \u201ccommitted to restoring public confidence in elections administration.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>McCarthy sent the resolution to Burns and every member of the GOP House majority on Tuesday. <\/p>\n<hr>\n<p>   Shawn Fleetwood is a staff writer for The Federalist and a graduate of the University of Mary Washington.
