The documents obtained suggest a potential breach of federal law regarding fetal tissue transfer.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Sen. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/marco-rubio\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"Planned Parenthood\">Marco Rubio<\/a> (R-FL) is demanding an investigation into <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/planned-parenthood\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"Planned Parenthood\">Planned Parenthood<\/a> for reportedly selling aborted fetuses to the University of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/california\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"California\">California<\/a>, San Diego for research purposes.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Rubio wrote a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rubio.senate.gov\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/03.26.24-Rubio-Letter-to-DOJ-and-HHS-OIG-UC-San-Diego-Aborted-Fetal-Tissue-Research1.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>letter<\/a> on Tuesday to Attorney General Merrick Garland and Department of Health and Human Services Inspector General Christi Grimm, asking they launch a federal investigation into the relationship.<\/p>\n<p>Rubio claimed that through <a href=\"https:\/\/www.centerformedicalprogress.org\/2024\/03\/breaking-planned-parenthood-sells-baby-parts-for-valuable-consideration-of-owning-university-intellectual-property-new-documents-reveal\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>documents<\/a> obtained by the Center for Medical Progress via a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/after-commuting-his-sentence-ca-gov-newsom-reverses-parole-for-convicted-double-murderer\/\" title=\"After Commuting His Sentence, CA Gov. Newsom Reverses Parole For Convicted Double Murderer\">public records request<\/a>, it was revealed that Planned Parenthood was transferring aborted fetal body parts to the university for \u201cvaluable consideration\u201d while still maintaining intellectual property rights over the fetal tissue.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf confirmed, this relationship represents a flagrant violation of federal law, which explicitly prohibits the transfer of fetal tissue for any compensation,\u201d he wrote.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In 2009, Planned Parenthood and the university agreed to a \u201cBiological Material Transfer Agreement\u201d in which Planned Parenthood would give \u201cfetal and placental cell tissue\u201d to the university for noncommercial research, according to the contract.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMost notably, the contract between UCSD and Planned Parenthood was made for \u2018valuable consideration,\u2019\u201d Rubio wrote. \u201cFederal law explicitly forbids \u2018any person to knowingly acquire, receive, or otherwise transfer any <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/inside-the-abortion-academia-industrial-complex-that-youve-probably-never-heard-of\/\" title=\"Inside The Abortion-Academia Industrial Complex That You\u2019ve Probably Never Heard Of\">human fetal tissue<\/a> for valuable consideration.\u2019\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Violating the law could result in a fine or up to 10 years in prison, he noted.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBoth of these organizations receive hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars every year, and the American people deserve answers.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"CLICK HERE TO READ MORE FROM THE WASHINGTON EXAMINER\u00a0\"><strong>CLICK HERE TO READ MORE FROM THE WASHINGTON EXAMINER\u00a0<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Rubio has held a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/trump-hits-desantis-for-signing-heartbeat-law-a-terrible-thing-and-a-terrible-mistake\/\" title=\"Trump criticizes DeSantis for signing heartbeat law: 'A terrible and regrettable decision.'\">strong anti-abortion stance<\/a>, saying in his January <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rubio.senate.gov\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/01.16.2024_Rubio-Office_Memo-to-Interested-Parties-re.-Winning-Strategy-for-the-Pro-Life-Movement_Final.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"memorandum\">memorandum<\/a> ahead of the March for Life Rally that \u201c[Republicans] cannot be afraid to speak up for the defenseless by advocating commonsense limits of this gruesome practice.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In the wake of the Supreme Court overturning <em>Roe v.
